Baby names

We are trying to find a middle name for our daughter!

So, first name is Isla... surname is short too. We are stuck! DH likes Bethany and hasn't mentioned any others! I like Carolyn, and a few similar names to that, like Caitlyn, as my late aunt was called Kathleen, so it gave me that idea. I also like Juliette, after a late friend of mine called Julie. FIL has mentioned Rose, but I think it is too short with both her first name and surname being 4 letters long...

DH and I would prefer a longer name and he has said not a 'cool' or modern or made up name whatever that means!

I had DS when on my own, and so named him myself, he is Joseph (as I liked the name) and Robert (after my grandad) so I have said to DH that he can name Isla - it's just that I don't really like Bethany! Maybe it will grow on me

His grandma's name is Eileen so that is too similar to Isla. We don't like the other grandma's name or my grandma's names!!!

So anybody have any lovely names that they think might work???!!!!

Both my dcs have two middle names- not sure if it's because we're indecisive, but I think it does 'scan' well. Our middle names are all family names.
I like the constance and veronica suggestions - either a longer name or two slightly longer names would balance things out, I think. I really like Isla, BTW

Cecily works nicely as a middle name IMO.

also agree that using 2 middle names can make things flow better.

We chose middle names that mean something to us. Eg Ds2 would have had Scarlet as a middle name as it is a beach we used to walk along. Have you got anything like that?

Isla Rose is lovely though.

JackBlack, looks can be decieving Ah they are pretty good. DS1 is a really big bro as there are 9 yrs between him and DS2 and he is brilliant!

Your son looks like he will really look after Isla...she looks like she has a 'I will wrap you around my little finger' look at him

big to everyone - i like a lot of the suggestions - i will have to get DH to read this thread now and get him to decide!!! a friend suggested we choose a middle name to reflect her personality (!) and at the moment she is being a greedy guts so maybe Isla Fatty would work !!!

PS thank you Squirdle - your 3 boys look absolute angels!

I don't think Isla Bethany works at all. Isla Rose is lovely. I liked the suggestions of Naomi and Beatrice.

If DS had been a girl he would've had my grandma's name as a middle name, Beatrice. Isla Beatrice sounds nice, I think.

Personally I am not sure that Isla Elizabeth runs together that well. (and I am an Elizabeth).

So what about Isla Frances... If you go for Caitlin I think that is the spelling that you should use.
