If DD had been a boy she would have been Alex, we also liked Luke and Mitch.

DD was nearly Layla, but we always liked Jude from the outset and it really suits her as she is a real tomboy and dead feisty.

onebatmother I liked Arden and Arwyn, dd1 was nearly Arwyn, it was between her current name and that

we had ariel too, spidermama, but dp decided it was too soapy.

Also Arden for a girl, which I still like.

Felix.

Firstly, it doesn't scan well with our surname and secondly, I've since met 2 Felixes so I'm quite pleased we didn't choose it.

DS1 was nearly William or if he'd have been a girl she would have been Jai.

DS2 was nearly Patrick, and if he'd have been a girl she'd have been Maia.

Really wanted DD to be Sophia but DS is Edward and thought that it might be too like Edward & Sophie (DH also has a 'royal' name).

Now I don't think that anyone would have made the link.

If I could have known that I would have 3 girls they would have been Faith,Hope and Charity.

for my dd1 when she was first born I wanted to call her Naomi. DH didnt like it though.
Glad I called her Cecily Fay now!

for my dd2 she was going to be called Imogen Rose. But after she was born she suited Lucia Jane a lot more!

both my ds's got the names we originally planned on!!

Charles [charlie] James

and my baby (well...3 year old )

Johnny Joe.

I liked June but DH insisted it was a tea-lady's name. I loved Yael but it was deemed too Jewish for a 100% Anglo-Celtic baby. I floated Cecily but DH is very self-conscious about his appalling eyesight so in the end I thought it would be insensitive to give our daughter a name that meant "blind". I also wanted Flora when DD was born because she was all pink and curled-up like a little bud, but DH couldn't get past the margarine thing. I almost wish I'd argued harder and taken the "well she's getting your surname so I get to pick the first name" line.

Mrs JC is a name genius.

Well when we were name searching we saw June and imo I thought it was a bit of an old name but everytime I said it I liked it.
It also reminded me of the shoe brand but I loved how it sounded and the spelling with a D.

Even 4 years on I still love it.

Nbg, I've never heard of Dune being used as a name, I know a Doona but not a Dune. Is it a family name or what are its origins, very interesting

DD could have been Claudia, Elise, Grace, May or Dune.

DS1 could have been Elijah or Bo/Beau

DS2 could have been Roan/Rohan, Rowan, Austin or Burton

I wanted to call ds Simeon (One of Joseph's big brothers in the bible story of the dreamcoat!) Dh said no way and reminded me that a Simeon is a breed of monkey! We settled on Joseph after that!

Would have been Grace if a girl.

DD's name was decided almost from the start but if she was a boy she'd have been William or Balthazar (if I had my way). or maybe Lorcan (although DH would never have agreed to the last 2)

DS could have been William again but again his name was decided quite easily and quite early on. if a girl he could have been Evangeline, Marina or Rosalind
