This name makes me wish I could have another daughter. I never thought of it when I was having babies!

I think Cherry's a lovely name. I don't think stripper at all, but then I don't think stripper about hardly any names.

I like it and think it's sweet, first thing came into my head was it sounded American not stripper at all

My first car was called Cherry and my best friend said it sounded like a strippers name

I work with sex workers – they're all called Ava and Evie and Freya now. I even met a Sadie the other day.

I actually think Cherry is lovely, which surprises me, because I'm normally a fan of strong, classic names. It just has something bold about it that appeals.

I went to primary school with a Cherry, a Sherri and a Cheryl. They were all awful, bullying, chav girls.

I know a Cherry who is 18 and she's not a nice girl

I think it's nice too. Not sure what strippers are called.

It's a lovely name. I've never heard of the stripper connotations. Some of you lead filthy lives obv.

Cherry Healey is a tv presenter and went to Cheltenham Ladies' College.

Can’t believe all the ‘stripper name’ comments!

My name is Cherry and whenever I introduce myself people always say how lovely it is. I have never been teased about my name, I’ve been offered places at red brick universities and graduate jobs at good companies, so it has never been seen as unprofessional. People always remember it and often say how it’s such a warm, friendly name.

I agree with the earlier poster who says how to demonise something sweet!

For those saying cherry Healy..... isn't her name Chelsea?

And it's a terrible name anyway... pop your cherry.... sounds like a stripper

Report
Pinkvoid · 11/08/2018 07:30

Definitely a stripper name Grin. Or Cherry Healy ...

daisypond · 10/08/2018 21:42

I quite like it, but the "pop your cherry" meaning would make it unusable for me. How about Cerise, which is French for cherry, and it's a colour too?

Report
Urbanbeetler · 10/08/2018 21:29

It feels powerful in a retro way. A strong bright colour, like Scarlett or Ruby.

I think it's way better than Sherie, which i've not seen before.
It could be short for Cherith if you want the obligatory MN-approved BC name.
I also like Sherri, short for Sherrin. I know it's a surname.

Sorry not keen either. It's seems very dated to me probably because of Cheryl.

I don’t like it however do know an adult one. She’s not a stripper, she’s a scientist.

I once had a teacher whose name was Cherry. How we laughed when we found that out! There was nothing sweet about her, mind you.

Horrible.

I really like it! If Ds2 had have been a girl, he would have been called Ceirios, which is Welsh for Cherry Grin

Report
Jennyvenice · 10/08/2018 14:46

Awful. Way too cutesy (and with stripper-y connotations). Would not translate well into adulthood.

Report
RavenWings · 10/08/2018 14:41

Definitely a stripper name.

No, because of the slang connotations.

Awful, just awful

I really really love this. It's one of my absolute favourites but I would never use it because of the stripper comments.
