Goddess names

Am daydreaming about another DC. DD has a name from Roman mythology which we love (Juno). If we have another DD, I'm thinking perhaps we should also give her a goddess name for fairness.

I like Iris (Greek, rainbows) but worry it's too popular (we have a very common surname as well so would like to steer clear of top 10 if possible) and Diana (Roman, hunting) but is it too associated with the late princess of Wales?

What do you think, wise ones? Any other ideas?

Ha ha OP I quite agree - I often get "why did you call them human names?" (Also had a dog called Stephen )
There are some great mythological names for boys too. Loads of choice!

caoraich Yes, we get a lot of people telling us their cat or dog is Juno, way more than other children! I don't mind - a lovely name is still lovely even if an animal has it too

We did this with our cats - we had Freya and Juno

Love Minerva and there are some good Celtic/Gaelic goddess names too - Aífe, Morrigan, Brigit, Niamh

Hera is one of my favourites, but Juno is her Roman equivalent, so I wouldn't do that. Not only that, but Hera is hardly the greatest namesake.

We have a DD with a goddess name (Artemis), I also love Minerva and Athena (both in my list but DH dislikes Athena, DD was very nearly Minerva though). I could happily use loads of goddess names though! Juno is beautiful, as is Iris.

I'd say that the Princess Diana association would be strong for many brits though.

Wow, my perception of the popularity of Iris is way off buxbaum! It is VERY popular locally though. But such a gorgeous name and I know DH likes it as it was on our final shortlist before, as was Thea - thank you for the reminder sleepingstandingup

PhilippaFawcett Athena is lovely but makes me think of the 90s poster shop but might mention it to DH if/when the time comes and see what he thinks.

Kali the destroyer is one manifestation. I've done some research on her recently. She's a bit misunderstood and her meaning varies according to region, apparently!

I'm not a pagan, but I sometimes get invited to pagan ceremonies by friends who have taught me this stuff.

I think Iris is lovely as are a lot of the other suggestions here.I also like Brigid and it's variants (Bridget, Breeshey).

Not a fan of Diana personally, I find Di/the die sound unpleasant.
