So Ezra is a name I've previously discounted but heard it on holby city tonight and it struck a cord.

What are your thoughts on Ezra and do you know any?

It fits in with my love of biblical names but i think I previously discounted it as it seems a bit faddy , similar to Arlo

How about Eli or Ellis if you like short E names for boys? I still love Ezra though

I think it's a gorgeous name.

I used to think it was a lovely girls name and was shocked when I found out it was a boys name! I love it for either though 😍

Caleb is another suggestion

Don't like it. Faddy and celebrity-linked.
Will be Ez at school.

I just love the name Ezra - the Z in it makes it so cool but it’s a classic biblical name too so I don’t think it’ll be a “Darren”

If you like Ezra how about Eli Ellis Rex Casper Tristan Cole Seth Milo/Miles, Otis, Otto- they have a similar “feel” to me although I love Ezra most out of that list plus Casper which is one of three wise men

No way. The worst of both worlds - this particular name is very trendy and in a quick rise ( and fall), and yet very dated, like all Old Testament boys’ names currently are by over 20 years.

I don't like it.

Becoming more popular.

We have an 8 year old Ezra and we still love it but it's much more popular now than when we named him. We have always had lovely comments about his name. He likes it when he meets another Ezra though Smile. He's one of two in his small school.

Getting very popular suddenly. I've met three baby Ezras in the last year!

I have a 6 year old DS called Ezra and know two younger Ezra's. Definitely becoming more popular. When we named our son it was ranked 500th on the name list.

Ours is thrilled when he meets another!

I'm a big fan of it, OP. I do worry about the rapid rise in popularity though. It's in our shortlist of 3-4 names for our next DC if it's a boy, and I'm glad we've got at least a year or two to keep an eye on its popularity before we make that decision!!

Excluding all other factors though, it's just a beautiful and very cool name, IMO.

mama nope, not Italian or Spanish as far i know.

Does it have any meaning to you personally, OP?

Just that it’s a Jewish name but I know that doesn’t count for much these days.

I like it but also place it with the Arlo (hideous)/ Atticus trend. Those names are all quite popular around here and will date badly I think, but Ezra less so as it has been an established name for much longer.

Reallyorange is your friend Italian/spanish?

MikeuniformMike It means eagle in Latin apparently. I really like it but not sure I'm brave enough to use it.

Only Ezra I have come across was very, very naughty as a child! So now when I hear the name i automatically think it's a naughty name.

Looks like I'm the only person though as everyone else's Ezra's on this thread are lovely.

The name itself is nice.

It's a No from me.
Not heard of Ezio before but have heard of Esio Trot.

I like it. It reminds me of a band in the 90s though but nothing wrong with that. It's still a cute name.
