Eloise?

What type of child do you think of? I love the numb Elle

And it's for a pretty, feminine child. :)

I love Eloise. It's really beautiful. The nickname Elle would put me off way to much to use it though.

It's a really nice name!!

It's a hard one to describe how to say in words, isn't it?! Your description is better than mine, Nanny!

Report
NannyR · 25/05/2017 10:57

Eez, not eyes!! Auto correct mistake!

Report
NannyR · 25/05/2017 10:56

It's more of a -low sound rather than a -Lou sound in the middle. E-low-eyes.

Sugar- like Louise with an 'elle' sort of sound before it (although the L sound blends into one).

I like it. This may seem a daft question but I've always wondered how to pronounce Elouise. Is it:

El-lou-eez (like Louise but with el at the front?)

or

El-lou-ees? (with an s sound rather then z)

Really irritating, don't like the sound, and has old fashioned, pompous connotations when I hear it. Much prefer Elsie or even Elodie.

or el oys

Report
sugarbeep9 · 25/05/2017 04:54

how is it pronounced? A Louise or El was?

I think Eloise is very pretty. Not so keen on Ellie which will be the inevitable nn as it's a bit boring.

Beautiful name- it was high on our list!

Eloise is lovely.

It reminds me of the song by The Damned back in the day

Nice name but I wouldn't use such a boring nn as Ellie, why not just call her Eloise?

Love it. My cousin has a 4yo Eloise.

I wouldn't make it into Ellie though- as pp has said their are millions of those!

Family calls out Eloise Lo-lo - erm, that might be an option ?!

I think it's a lovely, pretty name.

I love Eloise.

I've known two. One was almost always Eloise, with "El" being used occasionally. The other was "Weezy". Always. But she was a baby/toddler, so that might be the reason for that nickname.

I don't think you can plan nicknames, tbh. Unless it's a name like Alexandra or Madeleine which have extremely common, well-known, and virtually automatic nicknames.

I'm not keen personally (but I also dislike Louise and Lois so I think it's the sound), but it's a perfectly inoffensive name which I think is unlikely to cause any problems

I love Eloise, but there are far too many Elllies, Ellas and Elles around.

Why not just call her Eloise?

(I really don't get the MN obsession with planning nicknames).
