Is Aria really that popular?

DH and I have agreed on exactly one name for a girl and one for a boy.

We love Aria for a girl and I know none in my circle (although I don't have many friends with babies) but it seems to be in the top 20 of every list I read.

Is it really that popular? Will there be loads of other kids in her year with the same name?

Thanks Grin

Never met one or heard of one but it's a lovely name. It really isn't that popular in terms of usage-there's just more than there were ten years ago.

DD is Azariah and in her nearly 5 years we have not come across another Azariah or Aria. We added the 'h' at the end as DH did not want it spelt the same as Azaria Chamberlain

I was about to say that Azaria Chamberlain is the only person who comes to mind with this name. I can't imagine many Australians would choose the name for that reason (a bit like some Brits associate Madeleine with McCann).

I think a lot of names had a resurgence with GOT etc

I love Aria, sounds melodic

My work takes me into contact with schools all over Scotland, never seen an Aria on list of pupils names, some very odd names though.
I think Aria's lovely.

There's lots of Arias and variations and similar short names ending in A: Eva/ Ava etc

I know 2. One is 9 and the mother thought she had given her a really unusual name.

The other is a baby named after GOT

It's not a name I like but I haven't met any at the baby groups I go to with DD or anywhere else.

I have only ever met one who is probably about 18mo now and lives in Surrey.

I think it's a lovely name!

I'm sure that it's the name of Imogen Thomas's little girl.
It's a pretty name.

I know one Lille Aria who is about 2 years old now.

Her poor mum is raging that everyone keeps asking her if it's after Game of Thrones, when it's a different spelling and a legitimate name in her culture!

I know of one toddler Arya but no Arias

Mind you I mostly know over 7s so not up to date with current baby names

I know one born last year. I think PLL has had a lot of influence. It was the biggest rising girl's name on the ONS list last year so is definitely on the upswing but there are unlikely to be lots in the same class etc.

I know of one in Surrey (6 months) and one in NY (5 yrs). Lovely name, bit I'd be surprised if it ever reached the popularity heights of Isla and the like. I could be wrong though!!
