Help...I love the name Grayson is it too much with our surname...

Hi there. I love the name Grayson for our expectant son. But our surname is Grafton.

Initially I thought no...but it's grown on me. Would we get away with it or is it just too much?

Aw I know I won't be in the majority but i think it sounds lovely especially when shortened to gray which is likely.

Also liked the suggestion of breaking it up with a middle name (loved James)

I think it sounds awkward and "off", with the alliteration but then the differently pronounced a's. It's really impersonal, like a firm of accountants.

And breaking it up with a middle name sounds like an improvement for a moment until you remember that nobody will ever use the middle name.

What about James? James Grafton sounds great. Jamie Grafton, a cute little boy. Jim Grafton, a handsome young man. Chief Justice James Grafton...

You know, when I first read it I did think "Lordy, no"

But having said it a few times in my head and then out loud, it does actually sounds quite good

What about Graham Grafton and shorten it to Gray?

It's too much with Grafton! Sounds very much like two surnames.
