I have a Willow! We call her Wilomenia as a nickname! I like Lola as a shortened version!

Works the other way. I was very thin, lanky, pale and awkward at school and willow/willowy was one of my many nicknames which I hated. Pretty name though but didn't name my dd this in case she got my genes.

It's pretty. And if you like it, go for it - doesn't matter what others think. But I do think it's worth considering PP's comment re:
might be a bit of a burden for a non-willowy child/adult. Like being a clumsy Grace, or a miserable Felicity.

Makes me think of the Wicker Man, and also of a very naughty only I used to ride.

Very popular at the moment, but I'm not a fan

What a load of rubbish sodabreadjam, they were popular now dogs names... I'm not that keen on willow but it's not a dogs name to me, Ive met dogs called all sorts, George, Elizabeth, billy, Penelope, people call their pets what they are not brave enough to use most of the time, or they don't have any kids to use the name on. If you like willow go for it i say!

I was just "trying it" incase mine is a DD.... But the obvious shortening is "willy" or "wills"... Not so sure now....

It still hasn't made the transition from tree to name for me.

Report
sodabreadjam · 07/06/2016 19:46

I did like it but it has become too popular.

MIllie/Poppy/Daisy/Ruby/Lily were popular girls' names a few years ago and then became pets names. Willow is going the same way - I know several cats and dogs called Willow.

I think summer is a bit chavvy and India rather pretentious and "wannabe"...

Still love willow
