Baby names

Olivia, Chloe or Daisy?

Hi all,

I'm not due for another few months but thinking about names and finding it difficult to agree with DH on girl's names. We have a couple of names for a boy that we both love.

So, I know the names I've listed above are v popular in the UK but I don't live in the UK and I don't think Olivia is overly popular where I live. Daisy is probably the most popular.

I love Daisy and DH loves Olivia (I do really like it also). Lately I've really been liking Chloe but I'm wondering if it's a bit dated?

Could you give me your opinions on these names please and also maybe some other names that we might like based on these?

Olivia but I guess now that it is more likely a boy then Oliver. :-)

Thanks all - just logged in and realised there's lots of new replies. Looks like it's Olivia then (although I have a strong feeling it's a boy after all).

Just in regards to the popularity of Olivia, I'm not in the UK and it's really not popular where I am. I told someone the other day we were considering it and she actually commented that it was lovely and really unheard of these days.

Centi - I'm not purposefully choosing names that are "popular". I'm just choosing names that DH and I like. I understand a lot of people will be put off by names that are considered popular but each to their own - I have to say it doesn't overly concern me.

Olivia but she will always be Olivia A or Olivia S or whatever as there will be loads in school with that name.

I know its a bit bah humbug but all of those names are so banal. In DS' class at school there are two Olivias, one Daisy.

Chloe is quite generic too.

Does it have to be a popular name?

I am already bored at seeing the names 'Pippa, Poppy, Amelia, Ava' . The most unusual old fashioned name I have seen anyone call their child was Penelope and Cleopatra.

There are literally thousands of names to choose from and its like everyone likes the same 20 names over and over.

Olivia! Love it so much... I like Liv/Livvie too! :) I see Ollie as a NN for Oliver!

I like all three. I can also imagine three sisters with those names!

Olivia is my favourite off list but its far too popular for my liking.

I dont like Daisy its far too cutesy and girly for me.

So I think Id choose Chloe off your list

I'd be inclined to avoid Chloe as every second teenage girl you meet seems to be called Chloe (or Ellie!). All nice names, so it just depends whether you care about DD being one of many. I wanted a name nobody else would have for DS1, but by the time DS 2 came along I was happy to choose a name we both liked, never mind how many others he might meet.

Like all of them, having 3 girls myself I think they would be such cute names for 3 sisters!

Chloe, love the name. I have a 3 year old called it. I also know someone who just called their baby it.

Chloe is quite 90s but I still like it. I'd go for Olivia though - Olivia Daisy is very pretty.

I wouldn't use any of them but if I had to choose, I'd choose Daisy.

Thanks Majestic, I was thinking of Liv or Livvy as a nickname but didn't think of Ollie - I like it!
