Baby names

Nina, Greta and… DC3

Expecting DC3 and starting to draw up a name list - which is a challenge.

What would you suggest?

Names that I or DH like - Robin, John, Robert, Freddie (only DH), Solomon (only me), Amos, Rueben, Rosemary, Tamsin, Arabel, Rosa, Audrey, Iris.

Hmm...

Robert -- doesn't really go with Nina or Greta
Freddie -- same problem
Solomon -- same problem but even moreso as it is an OT name
Amos -- same category as Solomon; too much of an OT name beside Nina and Greta
Reuben -- ditto; looks as if you have gone in a completely different direction from Nina and Greta
Rosa -- quite generic and looks as if it was chosen only because it is short and ends with an A

I think Nina and Greta go well with Robin (or Robyn for a girl), John, Rosemary, Tamsin, Arabel, Audrey, Iris.

I don't see Nina and Greta as matchy. They both have a northern European/Scandinavian vibe imo. They are also classic names.

Suggestions:
Instead of Rosemary, how about Romy, or Romy as nn for Rosemary?

Girls: Ingrid, Matilda, Harriet, Mabel?
Boys: Jude, Asher (it's Biblical but your DH may not twig, sssh), Rowan, Patrick?

My two siblings have quite long (pretentious) names and I always felt a bit like "why did they get all the syllables?". I'm projecting!

I dunno then, maybe it's just me!

Really crispyfern? I have to say I don't think of Nina and Greta as matchy matchy, although they are both two syllable ending in -a ! I suppose a third girl might feel left out not having a two syllable name ending in -a but it sounds a bit unlikely to me. My siblings both had names ending in -y that you could get a nickname from, which I didn't, I never felt "left out" about it.

If you have two matchy matchy girl names won't a potential third girl feel left out if hers is very different?

Nice names, they sound qute scandinavian and I really like most of Sophronia's suggestions. Also like Pippa, Elsa and Leonie.

So many lovely names out there! That's what is so hard!

My dad's name is on the list of boy's names Wowser so maybe you do love it!

Rickoshay I LOVE Jem, it's actually my brother's name though (short for Jeremy)

Does anyone else have a DH who, when asked about baby names, just suggests things like Titty, Fanny and Willy? Hmm Amazingly he is actually a grownup not a teenager boy. Anyway, I did get some vetoes out of him, including "no Biblical names that sound very Biblical" i.e. Solomon, Elijah, Ezra, Amos - all the boy names I love!

Have managed to add Astrid, Helena (Hel-AY-na or Helen-a?), Susannah and Magnus to the list though.
