Thoughts on this girls name

I love the name Isla but it is far to overused/popular for me but I heard the name AYLA today (pronounced
A-La) and think its a nice alternative.
Abit of googling suggests that in some countries this would still b pronounced as Eye-La but to my UK eyes I would read it with the Ay sound.

She would be Ayla Mabel W..

Any other similar suggestions very welcome, i like short names, surname is long.

Thanks for the feedback, mabel wouldn't really flow well as a first name with my ds & dd's.
Now thinking of 'nature/spring' inspired names or pretty biblical.. Still keeping options open

I prefer Mabel. Ayla nice but so close to Isla which is very popular. Ayla, Isla, Orla, Layla, Lila, Lyra... It all blurs but Mabel stands out.

The only Ayla I know has a mum who wanted something "different" yet still pronounces it Isla so I'd be inclined to pronounce it that way tbh.

It looks nice written down but as someone who is constantly asked how do you pronounce that or could you spell that please whenever I meet someone knew and being called the wrong name by teachers throughout school too I just wouldn't use it, sorry.

Generally the first time ppl hear a babies name is when you introduce them neway so i'm sure if i said meet baby Ayla then ppl wouldnt then think i'd changed it to isla when they saw it written down would they?

I'm so pleased this name has been well received, i've read some threads in the past where a name has been ripped apart

I know an Ayla (in her 20s). It's a beautiful name but she does pronounce it Eye-la and that's how I would assume it was pronounced if I saw it written down.

Spelling-wise, I much prefer Ayla to Aylah.

I think I'd naturally pronounce it like Isla but you'd only need to correct people once and I've spent a lifetime telling people how to spell /pronounce my name.

I know a little Ayla and as far as I know her name never gets confused with Isla. Most people would pronounce it as it's spelt rather than with an eye sound. Go for it, it's lovely.

I know mabel isnt everyones taste, its my nanas name and she is 94 and still going strong!
I've never heard of an Alya which is why i was drawn to it when i heard it. I can see how ppl will mistake it for Isla whilst that name is at the peak of popularity but somehow A-la flows nicer off my tongue than Eye-la.
Also like the spelling Aylah so it reads more like A-lar.
