We like all these names, but I worry Henry is too popular? What do you think?

Nearly named DS Angus, DH vetoed it. DFIL is Bruce, he vetoed us using it as he hates it!

I think Henry is much more popular than your other options.

If you're looking for something Scottish there are lots of nice options. Andrew was high up our list with nn Drew. Also James (DS middle name) might be worth thinking about, but it's high up the charts too....

I LOVE the name Bruce. Like Henry a lot too, but Bruce is more interesting. Angus is nice (Gus would make a very cool nickname) but my least favourite of the three.

Are you Scottish? I like Angus a lot, Gus is a cool nickname and Angus a great, really solid proper name. It's the sort of name dh would never consider Sad Envy

Definitely Angus, then Bruce, then Henry.

In order:

  1. Angus
  2. Henry

  1. Bruce

Angus is brilliant, Henry is a bit too popular but Bruce is dreadful- too old man sort of thing.

Bruce is terrible. I agree that it's on par with Wayne, Darren etc.

Angus is wonderful!

Henry is boring.

I have a Henry so I am biased, but I love that and Angus (I also love Fergus if that helps as an aside?)

Bruce is the name of my grumpy old next door neighbour and I can't get past that though - so not on my list at all

Angus or Henry. Don't like Bruce at all.

it is different here. I think it sounds Scottish.

I think I'm biased because I'm Australian.

In Australia, Bruce is not a clunky-cool, old-man name like Victor. It's a middle-aged man's name, and not a very classy one (think Wayne or Jason). Naming your son Bruce in 2014 would be like naming your daughter Sharon or Tracy.

That's just my opinion (obviously) - maybe it's different in the UK.

you can say that about all old man names. eg Victor is a bank manager nearing retirement in a regional branch of barclays in slough, OR it's a towie head toddler in a boden t-shirt half way up a climbing frame. It just depends.

I like names like victor, howie, bruce.

Go for it OP. (btw, I like Angus, but Henry is a bit boring)

I love Bruce too but then I'm biased. Henry is a friends Labrador. Angus is ok.

Anything but Bruce!!

Bruce is a red-faced middle-aged sheep-shearer who drinks too much rum at the weekends and drives a car with no muffler.
