My sister is about to have a boy, they have narrowed it down to 2 names but the favourite is Adam.
I like the name.
We were looking for a few opinions on Adam?

I know an Adam who is known as 'Ad'. His mum chose the name because she didn't want one that could be easily shortened but kids make their own choices. I like the name Adam & only know two, one being 32, the other is 18.

I just remembered that there was a nice-looking doctor in neighbours called Adam around the time my Adam was born. Looking at him now, I don't know what I was thinking!! www.perfectblend.net/neighbourhood/bio/willis-adam.htm

Angels, yes, I found it a bit odd as we are not religious at all. I'd understand it if we lived in the bible belt of the US but we live in Belgium!

I'm considering this for my boy (pregnant with boy/girl twins). Still a bit hmm though, so interesting to read.

DH is an Adam
He gets called Ad, which he hates, but marginally less than his surname based nn.
It's a timeless/classless/ageless name though, and always fits on forms.

I don't like or dislike it. It doesn't excite me as a name.

I'm marrying one and he is amazing! Its very much the kind of name you can imagine in any profession, my Adam is an engineer and I work with one who is a film maker. Brilliant choice Smile

Wow after reading perspectives post it just occurred to me that my Adam may be a DH one day. It made me feel a bit Shock actually. He's only so a long way off yet but that thought had never crossed my mind before... Omg I will be a mil!!!

Longtime... Wow, really?! I don't think anyone has ever put 2 and 2 together with my Adam!

AngelsInWinter, my Adam is my second son which tends to cause confusion for those who don't know us so well as the presumption seems to be that he would be the first son.

I have a 23 year old Adam so I guess I'm biased but he's got a really lovely character. It never gets shortened but we are in Belgium so maybe that's why. Of course the pronunciation does get changed with our French-speaking friends and I'm not so keen on the French pronunciation but that won't be a problem for you I presume?

I think it's really dull. Sorry.

Admittedly I do only like very off the wall boys' names though (Heathcote, Balthazar etc).

Yes, I've got an Adam. Like it a lot as its not really used now, but I had lots of friends called Adam (left school in 2007).

Also he was my "first man", as in, I hadn't had a son yet! Cheesy, I know.

also I loved the film Saw and there was a doctor called Adam on it

This caught my eye and popped on to say DH is Adam, we're 40 somethings.

I call him Adam but he also gets called: Ads, Adamski, Addduuum and even Ad. Even a short name can be turned into something else!!

youmakemydreams · 03/06/2014 16:26

Yeah I use Ads a lot. Friends also call him Adamski Grin

Good name. Friends' son. Is called this. Frequently called 'Ads' by his family. Turns out it can be shortened!

I like. It was considered as a name for DS one DH wasn't as keen. It's a classic name but not too popular.

I like it. The most swoonsome man I have ever met was called Adam so now it's a 'handsome' name to me.
