If I like Owen what else might work?

We have months still to find a name but I'm just getting frustrated because I can't find anything we both like. Girls names we're better about but no shortlist yet.

Owen is the only boys name we so far both like but I'm not completely convinced because I think it sounds strange with our surname.

And I'd just like some more options!

We like short, unfussy names. He likes Ethan and pretty much anything Irish except Liam, which I like.

Help please! Build us a shortlist!

Bruno Diaz is also Batman's real name in Spanish comics!

Bruno is a wonderful name and St. Bruno was well-loved across Europe so it ties Italy, Ireland and England nicely. I believe he was actually born in what is now Germany, although he is the Paton saint of Calabria. There are scrolls still exisiting of comments by people from across Europe telling of all his wonderful qualities when he died.

If I had another boy I would love a Bruno but I'm too old for any of that caper!

Um, Bruno is kind of amazing. I doubt he'll go for it but I'll try!

Yes lois that's my concern. I like the sound of it but don't want a tricky spelling. That's my hesitation with Irish names.

I'm half Italian and am wary of anything too Irish unless I really love it. This is complicated...

You don't get many Olans, even I'm Ireland. I only know one.

The correct (non makey uppy) spelling is Niamh. It's a lovely name but slightly tricky outside Ireland I'd imagine.

Breifne. I like Breifne.
And Tarlach.

Sorry about Neve, that was my spelling... He's never written it down so I wasn't sure... This is just preliminary, people and I'm not Irish!

DH was pushing for Eoin spelling but I prefer Owen. We may have to battle that out if we use it.

Olan is nice, I've never heard that before.

Owen is actually the scottish version. Eoin is the Irish version. I considered Eoin for DS1, but figured it would lead to a life of him having to a) spell his name to people and b) explain to them how it's pronounced!

Eoin (Owen), Ian, John, Seán. They're all versions of the same name.

Your DH is Irish but he's accepting 'Neve' as a spelling? Confused

It's Irish, unusual, and easy to pronounce.

Girls names we like Nora, Neve, Violet, Maeve and I love Georgia but I don't think I'm going to win on that one :) DH likes Willow.

We're just still stuck for boys! Nothing is jumping out at me. I appreciate the effort and please keep coming with suggestions if you have them.
