What are your thoughts on this girl's name?? We already have Aurelia Rose and Poppy Jessica, quite like 'unusual' names and also flower names? Baby due in just over a week and just can't decide! Btw, if it's a boy, we love Flynn.

Loxley - I suspect the name was created/adapted/modified by the writer of the book referred to by the poster above, as she suggests. Ancient Greek female names did not normally (or ever?) end in 'ah', even when written down using a modern romanized alphabet. The Greek for 'goddess' was Thea (pronounced in in some modern languages: 'Tay-ah'). Any connection, I wonder?

Disclaimer: It's a long time since I studied any Greek - other Mumsnetters will know much more than me...

Beatrice or Beatrix would go well with the other names - traditional but not crazy popular.

burgatroyd - In my defence I didn't comment on the name! It's a bit unusual for me - I like traditional (or boring) names!

I do however love Greek mythology - Tealah is not a name I've ever come across.

loxie that's mean but giggle worthy!

However I am with pixie on this. Just because a name is made up doesn't mean its yuk

PixieRae - what was she the Greek goddess of - I can't find a reference to it. The nearest is Teela - Warrior goddess from a Masters of the Universe.

Tealah sounds lovely.

I do prefer He man spelling though of Teela

I know this is old. But goddamn there's some mean comments on here. My name is Tealah. My grandmother read the name in a book, Tealah was a greek goddess. It IS a made up name, but that's the REAL beauty of it I think. I'm inlove with my name & wouldn't have it different.

Don't like Tealah. On top of the madey uppey look it is very wispy imo and sounds like tea leaves.

Would you consider Tallulah?

Or
Tamsin
Laurel (maybe too close to Aurelia)
Bellamy
Camille
Aven
Rosalie
Rue
India
Willow

Don't like Tealah. How about Tansy? That's a flower name and unusual, as far as I know, but easy to spell and pronounce.

Awful - sounds like a mispronunciation of Taylor. How about
Laurel/Laural
Letticia
Peony
with perhaps Grace

Tealah is not good. It might not be made up, but it certainly looks it.

Thea is a good suggestion. How about Tamar?

Tamarisk and Zinna for more unusual flowers. Delphine, Sorrel, Amaryllis?
