Love Francesca, also love shortened version Cesca. Know a fabulous and very lovely Francesa
Not keen on other choices though
Naomi she would always have to clarify which way to pronounce it
Louisa always tends to get shortened
Robyn sounds a little American and try hard
Belinda you're right too 80's (iPad not recognised) Grin

Jonah don't think has good meaning
Robin bit too cute if you have a ruffian!
Tristan - see Robin
LOVE Theo known several and they are all lovely guys, like Theodore too
Michael is a little boring

Francesca or Theo please Grin

I like Francesca for a girl and also Michael or Benedict for a boy

Louisa and Michael are my faves x

If you live in HK wouldn't Ls & Rs be difficult in the names? I don't know if that should be a factor. Tristan is quite a mouthful for speech delayed or foreigners (speaking from experience).

I have 2 DSs called your boy names. :)

Girls: Can't choose between Louisa & Francesca.

Nobody uses Mickey as a NN, wouldn't worry about that. It's quite ordinary compared to your other choices, though. Mikey is considered a very babyish NN to American ears, btw.

I only like Jonah, Tristan & Michael among your boy choices. Probably Tristan gets my vote. Not that you'd want one like mine.

Love Francesca, but personally don't like any of the shortening of it. So, Louise and Tristan for me. Love Tristan but DH vetoed it...

Robyn - although prefer Robin - or Francesca, and Benedict.

Francesca or Benedict. Sorted.

Ooh, you've got my name! I don't know anybody else with my name, I like it, but people do get it wrong in the UK all the time. When I travel anywhere outside of the UK, people get my name right first time!

Love Theo for a boy.

Francesca ok if you like Fran
Robyn would constantly have to spell name
Naomi rude supermodel
Belinda (too eighties?) two names merged
Louisa lou for short

What about Harriet, Elin, Seren, Lucy, Clarissa, Orla

Tristan love it

Benedict too pope - do you like Ben
Jonah (but DP says he doesn't like this) too whale
Robin too bird
Theo too cat
Michael (like Mikey as a nn, but hate Mickey) mick - too general

DontmindifIdo · 17/03/2013 21:52

I like Francesca.

Michael, as a teen/adult, he'll get Michael or Mike unless he introduces himself as Mickey, so I wouldn't worry about that. If you want to call him Mikey, you'll probably get him known as Mike. Theo is also very nice.

Belinda is v pretty. Versatile too re: nick names, could shorten to Linny or of course bel.

Love Louisa, but then it's my name so am horribly biased!

Have heard Francesca shortened to chessie which is sweet I think.

Francesca or Naomi, both lovely names.

Theo or Michael, prefer those 2 from the boys names.

Ohhh lots of mixed opinions!! Grinkly - we live in hong Kong and baby is half chinese, so no real issue with regional accents. Also have noticed that kids don't tend to get nicknames as much here, maybe because the shortened forms aren't well known. Still leaning towards Francesca (poss nn Frankie) but boys .. aggghh, boys are just hard!!
