I used to love the name Isobel but it is now very popular and the name of one of my nieces. So that's out.

Madeleine - no, I couldn't use that now.

Frances - used to love it, now gone off it.

Isabel and Freya, because they've become so popular (how did all those other people know about Freya?). I'd had them in mind for about 15 years, for future dds 1 and 2, before dd arrived, then realised we couldn't use either.

I LOVED Cassidy and Maddison when I was younger Smile they were not even on the list for DD as they just seem very dated now...

If we ever manage to have another I have chosen Aaron and Sofia for my top 2 names Grin TTC 5 years and counting...

I've gone off Natasha as well now I think of it.

For what it's worth snowflake I think Natasha is lovely.

My DP's sister in law is Russian and we call her Nataly (this is how she wants it spelt) but ithink Natasha is her formal name.

I do think some accents do Natasha a disservice. My own very possibly included.

Natasha. I thought it was elegant and literary (war & peace link). Now I think it is a bit looked down on.

Loved the name Jay for a boy about 10 yrs ago pre DCs. Then Jayden became popular and now I don't like it at all.

Freya. Love it but friend with fertility problems says it's top of her list. Would be outstandingly tactless if we used it first.

Tara. Always wanted to be called this when I was a kid. Still love it but think it's too easily turned into Tart and DH has vetoed.

Shannon. Because of Home & Away like pp.

Holly and Olivia as I have friends with these names and it would be kind of odd.

Scarlett. Wanted this 11 years ago for DD1. Was still on the last for DD2 6 years ago but glad we didn't use this now. I think it will feel really dated in another 10 years or so.

I used to love the name Isabella. Now it's just incredibly popular and I've gone off it.

Oh and Lily.

The names are the same as they were - still pretty and so on, but there are SO MANY of them!

I also love Rosalind - but it sounds terrible with our surname. Such a pity. Also it would have to be shortened to Roz, not Rosie.

I thought I would have the following when discussing it in 1994:

Kieran Matthew
Mark Ronan
Ruby Edith

I don't mind Kieran and Matthew but they're probably too pedestrian for me to actually use. Ruby is just way too popular and I won't even comment on Mark and Ronan :)

We did use Edith though as DD's middle name.

Sebastian - because I realised that I'm just not posh enough, but I always fancied Seb Coe when I was at school.

Boyd. I fancied Boyd Hilton too. Luckily I had a girl.

Lily/Evie/Ellie/Poppy/Sophie for girls Alfie/Archie/Artie/Charlie/Harry for boys - as they are now just far too popular and 'trendy'!
