Middle Name to go with Libby

Hey Mum's netters.

we've decided on Libby for our baby girls name when she arrives in November but i'm stumpped with a middle name and would love some sugestions.

Her surname will be Siddons, and as much as i love Libby Mae, we can't use this as it sound to similar to my BF's baby name and she is due 4 weeks before me.

Libby Louise is a good choice, especially as it has family meaning. If not, would your first name work?

Dd1 has my first name as her middle name & dd2 has my sister's name as her middle name - I love that.

I have a Libby, her name is not Elizabeth because if we wanted a child called Elozabeth I would have named her that and used it. Nobody asks what her full name is and she doesn't need a choice of name because her name is her name and it is a perfectly sensible name. Her middle name is Maya.

My Middle name is louise and it has been sugested we use that, Its growing on me :)

I'm not fond of Elizibeth as a name, and from looking around social networking sites etc, Libby has established itself as a formal first name even though it's not that common.

I've 100% decided on Libby for her first name,

DH's grandmother was christened Jeanie, and she changed her name to Jean by deed poll on her 18th birthday.

It will every time she fills in a form - it will have to be 'no Libby is my name'.

That is a good point - people will assume she is called Elizabeth anyway. I do have people assume DD1 is called Catherine, even though Kate on its own is quite common.

We wanted to call DD3 Jules, but we couldn't agree on a single one of the many options of full names to choose from (I favoured Julianne, DH wanted Julia, it was an impass), but I knew she could spend her life saying "No really, my name is just Jules". I also know some just Bellas who get called Isabella and a Frankie who gets called Francesca endlessly.

And an even more OT moment - as I mentioned about DD3 is called Georgie (full name Georgina) - do you know how often she gets called Georgia!

It would also save her a lifetime of explaining 'Libby is my name and not a shortened form'.

I would put Elizabeth on her birth certificate and open all the options for her when older.

Normally I'd agree with you Charlotte, I try to get my kids names that they will not be embarrassed of in their 30s if they become lawyers or business women of something (DD3 is technically Georgina, although I'm not sure we have ever called her anything but Georgie). But there is a flip side with this name, as if the little person is actually called Elziabeth she will very likely get called Liz, Lizzy, Beth or Eliza at school/work as Libby is the less obvious nickname.

I had a friend at Uni we all called Cathy. I was at her parents house one holiday and her parents kept says Kate this and Kate that. Eventually I said to her "Cath, do your parents think my name's Kate?". "No, dances you berk they are talking to me". Turns out she had been Kate at home her whole life, and at primary school, but the kids and teachers at high school had just called her Cathy. She tried to get them to call her Kate but to no avail. So when it came to name my DD1, she is called Kate, not Catherine, so that no one calls her Kit, Cath, Cathy or goodness only knows what else.

We chose middle names to honour family members - these names rarely get used but the have lots of meaning!
