Which of these boys names do you like the best?

Hi, we are TTC at the moment. I'd like to choose names before I become pregnant, as last time my hormones went wild and my daughter nearly had a name that makes me crynge now. Grin

We always thoght our boys name was sorted. It was going to be Oliver. I do love the name, but I realise it's quite popular now. That doesn't really bother me too much, as I do love it.

Now I like:

Oliver David- (after DH's late dad)

Barnaby James- (or another single sylable name)

Hugo Elliot.

Which do yo like the best?

Oliver David definitely. Not keen on either of the others....name popularity changes and, although Oliver has always been around a la Thomas, William, James etc.. it has peaked in the past 5 years and in 5 years time we'll probably be saying the same about Henry, George, Sebastian etc...if this website and another popular one are to go by Oliver might well not be no. 1 once the 2011 names come out...it actually only has been no. 1 from 2009-2010 so far...

Go for it and good luck!

My daughter made a wish the other day and said "please could I have a little brother called Oliver, or a little sister called Rosie. (Not sure about Rosie)
Itwas very sweet that she chose Oliver though. I think we'll go for that. Smile It might be quite popular, but at least it won't get any giggles.

We are home educators, so we don't have to worry about bullying.

Saying that, we don't want a name that people might have a secret giggle at either. Grin

Oliver David (or Elliot Hugo)

depends where you live. we live in a Middle Class area of the home counties and according to my children, kids with some of these names would get bullied at their comprehensive school.

Oliver David - really nice
Barnaby James - love this
Hugo Elliot - don't like either of these

Hugo was a middle name if DD had been a boy, it's lovely.

Barnaby - I reaaly wanted on our listbut DH said no because of the dinosaur. I still love it though.

Hugo - its on my shortlist for number 2 due in June. (although convinced I'm having a girl!)
I do like all the other names though too, my nephew is an Elliot x

Oliver - loads of them about
Barnaby - sorry don't like it, ok on a cute kid but not on a grown-up
Hugo - definitely the best of the three, but bit of a mouthful with Elliot. Better with David or James

Out of those six names, I prefer Oliver. Or James.

I think I'd go for Oliver James as I like those two names best :)

Ha, ha! I do see your point. That might be why DH wasn't that impressed. I like the fact that Hugo sounds posh, as long as it doesn't sound poncy.

I really don't like Barnaby - it's kind of twee and makes me thinks of bananas, bumble bees and purple dinosaurs.

Hugo is quite posh sounding, but still nice.

Oliver is lovely but is quite high in the baby name popularity lists.

I haven't seen Barney for years! Is it still on? We do tend to shorten or give nick names so maybe Barney would be used qite a lot. Hmm

I vote Hugo! Love it.

I do like Barnaby a lot but would worry it may get shortened to Barney which I really dislike.

Oliver is really quite dull, sorry.

I think they are all nice, so why not keep a short list of three and decide later.
Barnaby is the only one I would be cautious of as you don't really want the nn barney (as in the purple dinosaur).

Can we hear DD's name to see how they go together maybe?

No, I do like Oliver better than David. No ones voted for Hugo yet. Grin
