In no particular order,

Sensible names:

Edmund
Douglas
Patrick
Adam

Wildcards:

Gene
Jasper
Wulfric
Raedwald

Please give opinions and top 3 if you can.

(I am a namechanger as this list makes me far too indentifiable)

Patrick - my cousin is Patch for short, better than Pat or Paddy.
Jasper
Raedwald

are my favourites.

I really really dislike Gene, and I don't like Douglas.

Adam and Jasper are nice.

Edmund and Wulfric - meh

Patrick is nice. The others are pretty grim.

lol @ 'grim'

Thanks for opinions, it's been food for thought!

Jasper isn't my preference, it was DH's wild card which actually surprised me as he's never mentioned liking it before.

Adam I think is nice but dull and there are a lot of them about, probably because it is nice.

Raedwald & Wulfric are my middle name choices, although if given free reign Wulfric would be my 1st choice (Wulfie as nn). Am I cruel? Grin I think it's lovely.

Gene seems to have a completely mixed reaction. I think it would suit a very cool person and make a nerdy person seem even nerdier, iyswim. Bit of a gamble.

Patrick, Edmund & Jasper would be my top three, in that order, all fab names.

Gene is great too but a bit girly especially as Jean is making a comeback.

Jasper is the best.

Douglas Patrick and Edmund are OK.

Don't like Gene.

Edmund -Don't like as he was the baddie in King Lear.
Douglas - very traditional/boring unless you have a family reason for using the name.
Patrick - One of the better names from your list.
Adam - ok, inoffensive

Wildcards:

Gene - possibly too unisex to lumber a boy with.
Jasper - very on trend and definately the best from your list, providing you don't want a name with longevity.
Wulfric - Very Germanic sounding, would probably get "Wolf" as a nn.
Raedwald - Never heard of this, don't like it. Your son would be forever explaining his name to everyone he meets.

Edmund - Like a lot
Douglas - Not keen. Am Scottish, sounds like a middle aged man to me.
Patrick - OK
Adam - Like a lot, but not an adventurous choice.

Wildcards:

Gene - Love it! Reminds me of Mad Men a bit.
Jasper - Like.
Wulfric - No, too unusual
Raedwald - As above, and would be forever spelling it out.

I think my top 3 are: Gene, Edmund and Adam (although Adam seems really different to your other choices - which of these names feel more like "you"? Also if you have / plan on having other DCs it might be an idea to choose a name that you think you will find other names to go with... one DC with a very traditional name and the next with a really unusual name might be a bit odd, e.g. Adam and Raedwald?!).
