Hi, I'm 28 weeks pregnant and just found out we're having a girl and would really like a name that is strong and feisty - she never stops moving and trying to kick her way out of my tummy and has already caused a few dramas :)

I would like a first and middle name that are quite feisty...nothing too traditional or too popular.

TIA

Ursula is, imo, a feisty strong name. Think it means little bear.
'tis my sister's name and she is certainly one feisty madam

Saoirse is feisty in the way that Gerry Adams is feisty.

Yeah Carmen IS great actually. Also Cleo and Cléa (Lawrence Durrell's Alexandria Quartet - haven't read them though so she might have been a wet hen.)

I have a Nancy and she was very nearly a Saskia but DH wasn't keen.

She's very spirited and lots of fun and she's 4. Her full name's Nancy Madeleine Pearl. If she could pick her middle name, I think it would be 'Rapunzel' Grin.

I instantly thought of the Irish name Saoirse (pronounced Seer-sha) because it means freedom. Sounds pretty fiesty to me. :)

Lyra (if you've read The Amber Spyglass you'll know just how much girlpower that Lyra had)

Isla I think you need to get some seriously feisty women in your life! My bf is Sarah, initially there was only one reason I made friends with her, we worked together and I realised pretty quickly that you would have to be a fool to have her as an enemy, I definitely wanted her on my side Grin

And as for my friend Deborah, well you can argue with her if you like, I'll be the one standing well back and laughing.

Deborah the Prophetess

"Deborah, in the Bible, prophetess and judge of Israel, the only woman to hold that office. Under her guidance Barak conquered Sisera and delivered Israel from the oppression of the Canaanite King Yavin. Deborah served as Israel's Judge when no men were willing to lead."

You see, I rest my case. Only someone called Sarah could suggest the name Deborah as feisty :o Wink

And thanks thumbwitch - i like some of those very much, especially luise/luisa ~(my grandmother's name, she is 83 and i'd love to honour her!!) also lula and lulu (the pet name versions) as middle names :)

How about Nancy Caitlyn? Every Caitlyn I know is feisty come to think of it.

Athene - warrior goddess of the Greeks.

This webpage has probably been already linked to but I haven't clicked on any of the links to check - a list of girls' names that mean "warrior"
