I have a Joshua and am expecting DS2 in 3 weeks I am really undecided on names. DH has only one suggestion of Tom, which I quite like but I don't like Tommy and am worried that he will end up called Tommy.
Anyway my other favourite names are:

Luke
Roman
Elliot
Jamie
Jacob/Jake

Not sure about having two with the same initials though?

We already have family members with

Edward
Harry
Ben
Nathan
Oliver

All of which I would have considered if they weren't already used.
What do you guys think?
Any alternative suggestions?

(Due to surname most names beginning with S are out)

Don't like Tom. Bit bland. I prefer Luke, Jacob or Elliot. Jamie's a bit common.

I love Tom, but agree with you about Tommy! From your list I would choose Jacob (Jake for short). I love this name but with the accent where we live it sounds dreadful. I don't think it is too similar to Joshua. Although Josh and Jake is very similar to an American TV show on Nickelodeon - Josh and Drake. Just a thought that sprung to mind when I said the names out loud! Luke is nice.

I don't think Thomas' get called Tommy very often especially after the age of about 10, its generally Tom. I think Luke goes best with Joshua. I like Roman but it doesn't really go with Joshua. I like Daniel. Not keen on having two initials the same. What about

Aiden
Reuben
Benjamin
Marcus
Alexander
Lewis
Louis

I think it is because there was a Tommy at DS's previous school and the mother screaching it across the playground still haunts me lol

My votes go to Daniel and Thomas, but I am biased.

My Thomas never gets called tommy Smile

I know a few Thomases and Toms and never known them to be called Tommy.

We had no trouble at all picking girls names with either pregnancy but boys names are hard.

Daniel...Hmm quite like it
Matthew...have a friend with one
David...not keen
Samuel...would be awful with surname unfortunately
Peter...my dad's name (don't want to use DH's dad's name ever so would feel a bit wierd)
Edward...nephew
Isaac...not keen
Zachary...friend has used this recently
Nathaniel...nephew
Henry...Not keen
William...would worry people would think I was using due to royal wedding same month

Yeah I'm not sure about the J names for the post reason mainly but there is ten years between them so not sure how much of an issue it would be by the time DS2 was old enough to get anything other than birthday/xmas cards.

I like Elliot, Luke and James with NN Jamie. Unless you have a link to Rome then Roman sounds odd to me. All the Jakes I have met have been poorly behaved.

Luke or Elliot would be my choices. I like Jacob but think it's rather too similar to Joshua.

Or how about

Daniel
Matthew
David
Samuel
Peter
Edward
Isaac
Zachary
Nathaniel
Henry
William

I like Roman and Elliot. I'm not keen on Luke or Jamie, I'm afraid and I'd avoid another J name as this may get confusing with mail etc.
