What do you think of Vesper?

What do you think of Vesper as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

Is it quite cool? We like the spiritual connection (evening prayers time). But obv not the scooter it might be mistaken for......

Nope. For all the reasons listed above

It sounds waspy. And I didn't even know it meant wasp in Italian!
On the other hand it DOES remind me of Eva Green.

I think James bond, but that's not a bad thing. It does mean wasp though.

Scooter/Wasp/Bond Girl were the immediate thoughts.

This thread is uber old, though, the baby is probably named by now!

Great name if you live in a monastery

Latin for evening. Also sounds like Vespa, Latin for wasp. Both, I was taught, back in the day, were pronounced with a 'w' sound, but as we're not in ancient Rome...

Ridiculous name by the way, zombie thread or not. Wags finger Grin

I quite like the sound of it. It's certainly very edgy. But it sounds like a face cream.

I met a woman the other day whose 2 year old daughter is called Vesper...I think she was inspired by the James Bond film!

If I ever have a daughter I'll be trying to convince the OH to call her Vesper, really love this unusual name.

I'm thinking scooter too - also you'll have people wondering if you've done that thing of naming your child after the place they were concieved and trying to work out if they can ask you how you managed to shag on a scooter...
