How the actual bloody hell do you knit 'in the round'?

It has me stumped. I just cannot see how to do it.

I have cast on my 73 stitches onto my needle thingy with bendy bit in th e middle but I just cannot see what to do next.

Do I shove it all around to the other side? or keep it on the left and knit a row and then shove it around?

Are you on Ravelry? There are thousands of patterns on there. Be warned - it's addictive!

it has beaten me.

What can I knit (flat, with 2 normal needles) from some nice bluey fair isle wool?

have you done a tension square?

count how many stitches you have per inch on your test square and times that by however many inches your head is, whatever the answer is is how many stitches you need to cast on.

What size head are you knitting for and in what thickness of wool? I've just knitted DS a hat in double knitting wool (not in the round) and had over 100 stitches but he has got a rather large head for a nearly 5 year old.

It doesn't need to fill up your needle entirely. Have you double checked how many you have cast on? Check it against your pattern, I am sure you will be fine.

Find either Knitwitch or Verypink.com on You tube. They have some fab video tutorials on knitting in the round. Good luck!
