CBT for PND?

Hi, I've been referred for 6 sessions of CBT for PND/depression. Can anyone who has been through it give me an idea of what it will involve? I get anxious in new situations, so information would help me feel calmer, I hope.

I had to have an "assessment phonecall" which I found really difficult - he minimised my symptoms and questioned my diagnosis. Really worried I won't have the strength to survive the actual CBT. I'm on ADs (Sertraline for a month) and want to get better.

I've done CBT and found it very useful. A professional counsellor would not question the diagnosis and I'd tell them straight out you are uncomfortable. They should be making you feel at ease not the other way around. CBT involves discussing and examining how your actions affect your thoughts and vice versa, and how you may be trapped in negative thinking patterns that make you feel bad. So you may be asked about situations that have made you upset, and the counsellor will walk you through your thought process etc. it can be extremely effective.

There are also approved courses online that you can do in your own time, my GP gave me a link once. You might ask for this approach if you are very uncomfortable with your counsellor.
