AIBU?

to think that the use of Whoop Whoop by 30 somethings is a bit sad?

Just checked Facebook, and have seen so many of my friends using "Whoop Whoop" and "Good Times" on their status updates.
These are people in their mid-30s, one is off to an event that I know will not even slightly be worthy of one Whoop, let alone 2.

And what the flying feck is "Toot Toot"?

And yes, I am perfectly willing to concede that I am an Old Gimmer

I'm an old gimmer and it makes me cringe when anyone uses those expressions

Whoop whoop??? No! Really?

How dreadful. There are advantages to being an old fart and not having to say things like that is one of them.

Hmmm, Heartofcrystal, perhaps I may start a trend, Woob Woob

"Lizzylou has just cleaned the loos Woob Woob"

But then I like Whoop da Whoop as well...

I think it just depends on who is using the phrase, some people can carry it off and some can't. When it is someone who is old before their time at 38yrs old and a real shandy drinker just trying to get down with the kids, it is just plain sad.

All super cool and youthful Whoopers, fill yer boots.

If I ever put Whoops in my status I can guarantee that I'd get a right pasting, as I am just too untrendy and am normally talking about the kids/dental pain etc.

Sorry i have got to add this slightly off subject point. Has anyone seen the manboobs advert? He doesn't whoop he woobs. Here is his little song.

"Woob woob woob, i got my man boobs"

I haven't even got a clue what it is advertising [hmmm]

Anyways needed to bring it up

Admit to being baffled by Woot Woot but frequently use Woo and Yay - is this OK for a forty-something or should I really be a catsbum candidate?

This thread is so funny, I keep thinking 'Can I get a WHOOP WHOOP??!'

SO cheesy

I definitely am anti-whoop whoop.

My best friend is under 30 and she uses it all the time, and she calls me babe as well - she doesn't call me babe or whoop whoop in reality so why in virtual reality??

I'm 31 and occasionally use a whoop whoop but only ever sarcastically.

"i'm in bed with the flu, whoop whoop, good times."

i do it honour of my teenage nieces.

My brother once said "why is it men will eat a kebab, but wince at the thought of a womans piss soaked beef curtains" YUCK, YUCK, YUCK.

Thank God he was drunk, he is actually a very respectable man. It makes me shudder everytime one of my other brothers reminds me of this.

My DH just googled 'gammon hangers' and has given himself an asthma attack from reading the resulting Urban Dictionary definition. Mostly because it says 'see Beef Curtains'.

I agree, we need a catbumface emoticon. I thought it was just the weirdos I went to high school with in the U.S. that were doing the woot woot/whoop whoop thing.....it's everywhere!

Jac, you are so on my Christmas card list, you are cool though.
I am talking about people who plainly are not cool who are trying to be, iyswim.
Belive me, some of the Whoops on my news feed are from people whose idea of a good night out is playing dominoes or somesuch

Yep its is sad, she has photographed her drink.. anyway, I have a touchscreen internet ready mobile phone but only use the internet if I really have to (like checking the bank when on holiday) as it cost so much..

Report
Lizzylou · 06/11/2009 23:25

Really Sparkly?
That is sad, but then I only have a bog standard cheapo mobile phone. It is just an extension of people who spend all their lovely moments photographing and not actualling living them.
