AIBU?

For not caring what the kids think?

DP has a terrible habbit of worrying about "getting into trouble" with the kids when we treat ourselves. It really pisses me off.
Like if on a saturday day we say we fancy an indian when the kids have gone to bed, DP will look all worried saying maybe we shouldn't as "all hell will break loose if DSD finds out". Next week we're taking the kids to a halloween night and I suggested fish and chips on the way home as a treat for all of us. DP said "yeah, me and you can get kids meals too" so I said "no, I'll be getting fish and chips " so he said "oh but do you really think we should make the kids get kids meals then as they won't be happy seeing us with fish if they can't have any" ??? ffs so I said that I couldn't care less what the kids thought and they were quite welcome to stay at home and not have any if it bothered them that much.

its like a few weeks ago we got 2 curry and rices to share between me, DP and DSD (they're massive) but as DSD wanted one to herself DP was in the kitchen trying to spread the curry around the plate to make it look like nobody had taken any of 'hers'. It really, really annoys me.

AIBU or is he a wet blanket??

Well I'm not a child and when we get a chinese we usually share 2 portions of curry, 1 boiled rice and 1 plain noodles between 3 adults. If DS (3) is having some we get some chicken wings or ribs as well to bulk it out. So in that respect I think what you bought was plenty to share between 3.

Don't the kids meals have a fish option? Ours do sausage, nuggets, burger, fish cakes, fish fingers and fish bites. I always get DS fish bites which is proper fish in batter cos I wouldn't pick the other crap over proper fish in batter so why should he have to put up with it. If they didn't do fish bites I would get him a mini fish or get a large fish and share it with him.

I think it's utterly OK to get a takeaway when kids are in bed, but sorry, I think it's mean to get one when they are there and they get nothing.

dont get the point of this really ,
but if your having the occasional take-away when the kids are in bed , im assuming its instead of a night out?
would your dsd insist on tagging along if you were to go out for a romantic meal as a couple?
She is a brat
your DH needs to get off the guilt trip, theres nothing wrong with having adult treats now and again. Life isnt just about the kids .

Was this the person who was concerned about her DP showing preferential treatment to his DD, and being quite unpleasant to her DS's?

Ah right. I have a vague memory of some of the things you mention Reality.
