Maybe it's just me, but I cannot bear a pair of knickers which doesn't actually cover my arse AKA the dreaded g-string. Was reminded of this at the weekend when DH took me out for dinner to celebrate wedding anniversary. Wore slinky dress which necessitated pants that, quite frankly, barely cover anything. As we were walking along the street, I just wanted to keep hoiking them out from between my butt crack. Not great. Couldn't wait to get my big granny pants on the next day. I think in M and S parlance they are known as full brief.

I LOVE my big belly warmers. I have never been a g string girl. Pre c section I was more a tanga type but they now sit right on my scar which makes it itch and just annoys me.

H&M do pretty maternity knickers that are as comfortingly large as my bottom.

i haven't had any kids, but i wear m&s midi briefs (not quite granny pants). oh says they're sexy.

and if i have a special occasion, i wear even bigger knickers: this is because they have NO vpl at all!! they cover all the way from your waist to your thighs, they rest on the bit that bends, so there is no line there either! how is a thing that digs in somewhere along your bum and across your belly invisible?

I am 29 and i love my 'belly smackers' i have never owned a thong or g-string and don't intend to. My friend says they are like cheese wire up your bum! No thanks i like my comfort too much.

Agree re: tummy cut in half - big problem for me too (pre and post DD!). I just get for the ones with an elastic that is not that tight - sloggis are a no no as far as I am concerned

I have quite a few knickers that do not go up your bum actually - low rise, black cotton, bought in Italy. But they are not supertight around the bum though so if you like them that way they are not for you!

I'm a recent convert to m&s lace no vpl shorts - sexy and comfy. Asda do similar ones too.
I always wear big knickers, I only own one tiny pair - see through chiffon tie side frillies, tie sided so they can come off esily when wearing basque/stockings. Hubby like to work "around them" though, it took him 3 times of me wearing them to realise they untied!
He wears jersey boxers but had to wear pants for the 1st time in 30 years recently when he had the snip, he HATED them but I think they look quite sexy, I tried to persuade him to take some on holiday but he didn't.

I like boyshorts, because they go pretty far up on the tummy, but also extend a little down the leg, which is warmer, and also has the effect of no panty line under skirts.

Sod the VPL and go for the big knickers - the more voluminous the better!

minervaitilica there is no middle ground that doesn't go up your bum in my experience.

I have tried thongs, high legs, shorts, sloggi (not the full ones). All made their way up my bum after about 1 minute. I have now completely given up and live happily in big pants.

I suspect it has something to do with my sagging bottom strange shape
