AIBU?

To be seemingly the only one at work tomorrow

Apart from me and and my other NHS colleagues, all of my friends seem to be off work tomorrow, teachers, retail workers, office workers.
Please tell me that there's someone else at work keeping the country running?!

I'm not working but I don't keep the country running when I am anyway.

And I already had it booked as annual leave so was a bit annoyed when it was announced as a bank holiday!

Are bank holidays a new concept to you? We have 8 every year and the country does just fine. If you're annoyed you've chosen employment that doesn't automatically give bank holidays then just say that instead of this dig at others.

No not at all. I'm just surprised that so many people who normally work bank holidays (not teachers or some office staff) are being told not to work tomorrow because their place of work is closed. I know that the Center Parcs thing has already been covered but there's lots of other examples too, eg filling stations

I've made a lunch booking at a French restaurant for tomorrow. 16 year old has been wanting to go for ages, and we're off school and work so ...
I was really surprised that they're open, to be honest (we're in Scotland).

I'm only off because it's my rostered day off (care home).

It’s not really any different to other public holidays - there will be lots of people working in roles that require it. The country doesn’t implode on Christmas Day or Easter Sunday, let alone a normal bank holiday Monday, so I doubt it will tomorrow either!

That's my view too, but supermarkets only usually close on 2 days of the year!

Me, hotel. It will be slightly quieter than usual but not much.
I said I wouldn't mind working, dh is off so no childcare needed.

I'm an office worker & in work tomorrow.

Out of interest, is that your choice or have you been told to go in?

I'm working tomorrow. Need to make use of the weather while I can. Plus I've been to too many funerals lately.
