My mother thinks DH and I are obssesed with cheese.. last Christmas, a cheese board with integral knives in the base and this year a magnetic set of... cheese knives. Sadly, she doesn't ask so I don't get to go

-any reason why you'd want one (yanbu!!) -are you planning on holding a wine and cheese party or bringing back the old favourite of pineapple/cheese on sticks?

My mil asked me on friday If I wanted an all in one corset undergarment for my 30th Birthday!!! I was so shocked I cut my self with a bread knife. (I was making her a sandwich, not being a piggy)

itsahardknocklife · 06/01/2008 18:18

oh my god! I can't believe she asked that while you were holding a knife...

Mind you, at least you get prezzies - I have never got a birthday prezzie from my in-laws.

it was nice of her to ask you in the first place
not a really weird thing to want to buy either
i think YABU not to say "no thank you" but to be so offended that someone wanted to buy you a cheeseboard!

Report

oxocube · 06/01/2008 18:19

Are you sure it wasn't a cheese knife nodder?

Report

candypandy · 06/01/2008 18:19

i mean at least she tried

Report

oxocube · 06/01/2008 18:21

ok to be so at someone wanting to buy you a cheeseboard! it's boring but y'know
i mean is one really that far above it?

Report

BroccoliSpears · 06/01/2008 18:29

Ooh I'd love a nice cheeseboard.

I got three pairs of scissors from MIL for my birthday once. I'm trying to work out if a cheeseboard is better than three pairs of scissors. They were in a block. They are useful but NOT a birthday present.

What is wrong with MILs?

Ungrateful bear.
