I expected it to be £500 to £600 per week as I was looking at a week in August for next year. But £1100 for a week for a glamping freaking bell tent with no toilet/ shower etc??? It doesn't even look that nice 🥺

Huts described as lodges can be good. I stayed in one once that was more luxurious than my house 😂 en-suite, dishwasher, washing machine, high ceilings, luxury sofas plush carpets etc etc…

Let some other fools pay the price. Glamping and huts described as 'lodges' are just a way of making easy money. They often justify this as paying for the 'experience', well fools and their money are soon parted.

@mrspainful Practise putting the tent up in your garden if you have one, (or a family members garden if you don't) keep practising until you get it, including guy ropes and pegs.
How old are your children?
There are some really easy and cheap tents that you literally throw and they put them selves up, and you just put in the pegs and ropes.
Check Facebook marketplace for cheap second hand equipment.
And say to yourself, you can do this Flowers

It's supply and demand.

Demand for uk based holidays has gone up, so prices have gone up. If they can get people to pay those prices all power to them, frankly. Nobody is forcing you to pay it.

Go on airbnb loads of nice places available and not at stupid prices. No way would I pay that money to stay in a tent regardless of how trendy "glamping is"

Welcome to price gouging chancers.

'Chancers' is a bit harsh. I agree glamping is over-priced generally, but looking at this year's prices, you have to bear in mind the losses holiday companies will have suffered over the last 18 month. They need to recoup that somehow.

I was priced out of my normal UK holiday this year, but I accepted the reasons for it. Hoping things will have settled down next year and that people who normally go abroad will not be holidaying in the UK.

Glamping is always expensive. It isn’t just post covid.

Some people must pay it.

Look for something else if you don’t want to.

£1000 a week camping?!! Thats more than half what we pay for our yearly seasonal caravan pitch that we use every weekend and a couple of weeks in summer, daylight robbery!

I'd rather stay at home than pay silly money for a UK holiday where the weather can make it miserable.

Yes I know it's not the weather, you just need a big coat, but being off work and going on day trips is a break enough for me. I'm perfectly capable of ignoring housework, DIY etc and it's not because I have a big posh house either.

That is rediculous for a tent. I have a holiday home in Brittany, France and it has 7 bedrooms including 2 with four poster beds. Property is cheap in France compared to UK. I have not let it out before but DH's I'll health means unlikely we will use it much anymore irrespective of Covid. I already lend it to DC, nephew and a few friends. I was considering advertising it next year for 750 euro per week. I wondered if I was being too greedy and that I would be charging too much? Now I am thinking it might be ok. I want to upgrade kitchen before letting out anyway but do you think that would be too expensive for me to charge? It is 25ins from beach and 250 metres from National forest. I would not be paying anything CV lose to what you have been charged for a tent with not even showers and toilets.

@Tigger1895 for the villa in Spain this Summer you'd need to add in the cost of tests ( not so bad in England but £88 per person in Scotland) good travel insurance and hope that nobody tests positive whilst abroad.

I looked at next years prices for caravans the other day and they're essentially a repeat of this years.

DSIS was in Cornwall during the super sunny week and the locals in the pub (who have holiday lets) were saying they've got people phoning io on booked lets and offering to gazump the holidays that are booked!

The world has genuinely gone quite mad this summer. Hopefully by next year the markets will normalise.

You’d get a 3 bed villa with a private pool for that price in Spain and flights are dirt cheap.

Paid £900 for our massive tent last year, paid for itself already! Currently in Dorset, cost is £197 for the week

Camping would be a lot cheaper than glamping. We're away for 15 nights this month and DH thinks he paid £400-500 (Can't quite remember)

You're in a tent in a field, it's camping.

I don't care what bloody silly name it's given, it's camping.

£1100 for a week in a tent in a field? No loo, no shower. No thanks.
