He’s convinced he can set up an echo dot where I’ve failed. We’ll see. But should I worry? Will he peruse my what’s app chats where I join in a general moan about men? Will he find my secret stash of topless pics of Giovanni from Strictly? What about my Amazon purchase history of meaningless crap?

What would you worry about in my shoes? Besides being proven wrong re defective dot?

Mine would find the ridiculous number of free and cheap werewolf romance novels I have stored on my phone. They are my guilty pleasure and some of them are pure filth Grin

My battery isn't shit and I still use DPs phone to look things up if its more convenient (closer, more battery, mines playing a video I don't want to stop or has dropped down the back of the sofa...)
I don't see any reason not to. He's obviously fine with it and uses mine in the same way. We don't go rummaging through each others messages but we could and wouldn't care.

My point still stands though, it’s not difficult to ensure you have sufficient charge or back up to get you through the day until you can charge again. Obviously emergency situations don’t count , but there seem to be endless threads here where someone just ‘needed’ to use their DH’s phone as theirs was out of battery and they ‘just happened’ to see a message that ‘popped up’... all too convenient in my opinion. If these people didn’t have a DH with a charged phone on hand to give them, would they go around with a useless phone or would they learn to charge in advance and have back up?

My battery is shit, I use my phone a lot, my car power point is broken and I frequently fall asleep and forget to put phone on charge. I definitely am not organised enough to keep and carry a fully charged bank plus don't really have the pocket space. Apologies if you disapprove of my lifestyle 😆. I don't have a dp to borrow a phone off but just pointing out how I end up with dead battery

@MarianneUnfaithful there’ll never be a Mr Goingplaces! Once bitten twice shy. Between us we got the dot going. I told him this morning I’d made this thread and a flavour of the responses. He said he didn’t need to snoop as almost everyday I start a conversation with “there’s a thread on mumsnet about…” anyway Grin. I showed him the creepy animal photos this morning, he liked that

@GrandDuchessRomanov

I haven't got a phone to hand over.

Never wanted or needed one.

Likewise.

DH wouldn’t sesrch my phone because he is a respectful person in that way.

He would however fix the Echo dot problem and them gloat about it insufferably. I’d be more worried about that.

I wouldn’t be bothered at all - dh knows about all the stupid crap I look at Grin.

Oh and for the person talking about battery stuff. My phone battery is not working properly and am waiting for my upgrade next month and DP just barely uses his phone so forgets to charge it. Isn't an issue here as I said as we don't care if the other uses our phone.

I wouldn’t like to think my and my DH know everything about everything about each other! How boring!! We’ve got another goodness knows how many years together, a few weird secrets, or parts of ourselves that the other isn’t really aware of is what makes relationships constantly interesting!!

He has fingerprint access to my phone as one of ours is always dead and we need them to push YouTube videos or prime to the TV. So all I would worry about was that he would see what I have planned for his birthday. We'll, that and he probably sees the absolutely random things I search for on Google
@sammylady37, it depends on what you do on your phone and if you drive, so can charge it when traveling. How long you've had a phone for is irrelevant. I've only got into gaming on my phone for the last two years. I had a laptop so didn't need it to shop and pay bills on etc. Me and my adult DD often use each others phone. Sometimes because we don't want to take ours off charge, before we go out, but want to pay or book something.
Well obviously it fell ends on how much and for what you use your phone, sheesh talk about staying the obvious!

We know each other's passcodes, in emergency it's wise. I also know exh's (unless hes changed it in the last 4 months - last time I saw him my phone was playing up and he lent me his, my birthday was the unlock still (I changed mine from his birthday when we split)

My kiwi farms account, my mumsnet posts and name changes, my YouTube where I watch dinner ladies and due south and 77 questions with vogue . Umm I think the farms account would be the more embarrassing of those but not to the point of deleting or explaining. Not that he has ever asked for my phone.

I just find it extraordinary that seemingly capable adults can’t plan ahead enough to ensure their phones are charged, especially given how much people rely on phones these days. It’s not a difficult or onerous task.

I hate my dh phone, the battery can last 3 days even with constant usage. Mine is lucky if it lasts 8hrs.

I don't really worry about anything. My husband and I have the same passcode. I never bother to go through his stuff though I use his phone often (if mine is other side of house, out of battery etc) and vice versa as far as I know. I'd be ashamed of excessive MN usage.

@cocoloco987

The number of people on MN who ‘need’ to borrow their partner’s phone because they’ve run out of battery etc never ceases to amaze me. I’ve owned a mobile phone for over 20 years and have never once in all that time found myself caught out with a dead battery.

You probably don't have an iPhone!

I do and have had for 10 years or more.

When me and the ex husband had a joint bank account both pin numbers were the same so we could just use any card.

I have no idea what my now dh pin is. He's told me when he's handed me his card to pay in a shop but I've then promptly forgot.

I know his phone pin and he knows mine but I never look at his and if I want to show him something on mine that's locked while I'm holding the baby I tell him to unlock it and look as I leave it open. He wouldn't go through it other than that.

The only time I’ve ever used my partners phone was when I was running into a shop to pay and collect something because he couldn’t park up. He gave my the passcode so I could use his android pay but I’m rubbish at remembering any string of numbers so was “1..2..3..4..5..6..1..2..3..4..5..6..1..2..3..4..5.6” in my head till I’d paid. Then promptly forgot the number.
