AIBU?

Covid likes cold and damp. Britain in winter is cold and damp. AIBU to think it would be a good idea to do all we can to eliminate it in the summertime?

Shouldn't we be throwing everything we've got at Covid now, while we have the climate advantage?

the WHO have always recommended 1m and lots of countries follow this advice that have don’t much better than us with our 2 metres @kahiki

Well a lot of countries made good use of the advance notice the world received in December 2019 and have an adequate test trace and isolate system.

And the WHO advice of at least 1 metre has to be applicable globally. Two metres is better if you can. And we in the UK, can.

They were New Zealanders who happened to have begun their extremely long journey, involving a change of planes and at least three airports, in the UK.

Oh god, I probably wasn't listening properly to the news whilst working/ keeping an eye on the children, cleaning something feeding the cats and cooking dinner simultaneously. Blush

You do realise we’re not as a nation sunbathing north of Hadrian’s wall? And yet despite these cold and dreich days we’re still doing rather well in terms of community transmission.@InsaneInTheViralMembrane

Scotland arguably has a more cautious and competent government. and is listening to experts in public health. Such as Devi Sridha.

Trick or Treacle - that statement is a pile of shite.

Scotland isn’t doing anything special - so not let your distaste fro Boris blinker you. We’re more sparsely populated that’s all.

@Beatrixpotterspencil

Perhaps the cold and damp thing is due to how in winter British people crowd together more indoors and in pubs, etc.
More likely to spread That way ...

Throwing something at it - I’d suggest a large brick 😁

Are these special “stay alert” Covid bricks?

We've literally switched off the economy. Millions of people are going to lose their livelihoods, their homes, and a significant proportion of them will lose their lives either to suicide or the increased rates in death that come with poverty.

We've got Alzheimer's patients shutting down in isolation and kids developing long term mental health problems.

WTF else do you want?

I know I could be lucky with corona but I'll tell you what my symptoms was like (in order).

  1. Headache
  2. Slight pain in jaw and nose.
  3. Sore throat (went away with paracetamol)
  4. A little bit of fever (lasted about an hour)
  5. Loss of appetite
  6. Loss taste/smell
  7. Cough (consistent from probably number 3 but not like proper coughing my lungs out).
  8. I recovered from everything and just 2 days ago I've got rid of taste/smell.

This was all within 10 days.

I was never bedridden or anything and I've worked throughout it all.

I know I'm lucky by having such a mild case but I think we should be opening the country up and lessen lockdown.

I'm really sorry that so many people have died, it's really sad. I can't imagine what pain people have gone through.

But, we should be getting kids going back to school... We're ruining children education for something that has spared children.

70 children died from swine flu (NHS, 2010) and we never shut down schools over it. I was in school then and there was never talk about shutting them down.

What is it that you want us to do? Stay locked in forever?

Sorry if my post seems aggressive, I'm just trying to stat facts.

I'd like to add I've worked from home and I've not harmed anyone.
