Yup. Getting a bit into the realm of group-hysteria now.

The requirements to join in that some people are reporting sound a bit like all those totalitarian dictatorship countries that we are nothing like and are far superior to.

I clapped for the nhs but I'm not going to clap today.

It's all very stupid.

Oh yes the clapping police, the village WhatsApp group has been very vocal about how disappointing it was that not all residents were participating. Queue lots of replies from retail workers on shifts, parents saying it’s children’s bedtime and someone pointing out that their 90 year old mother shouldn’t be standing for too long as she had both hips replaced earlier this year. The pomposity has reduced significantly after that.

Yeah it's annoying and unnecessary. I don't think anyone actually did the clapping for the kids thing - at least they didn't near me even though it was plastered all over our local FB page.... and so I think (hope) the Boris Johnson one will come to nothing too. Just someone starting this nonsense on social media and hoping it gains momentum I reckon.

Nobody is clapping for anything apart from the NHS here.

I am all clapped out. I have clap fatigue.

I've had enough of it.

I wonder if Boris has ever got the clap- since he seems to shove it in anyone that allows him.

it's utterly reduced the original meaning, it's so diluted now! I'm knocked for six about the PM and have found myself very emotional about it. But I'm not clapping, fuck that. I wish him my best in my own (quiet, not-instragrammed) way. That is enough.

The first time for the NHS was fine, it doesn't need to be everyweek, it loses meaning the more you do it.

There is also shine a torch on Fridays ect

I also think the threads about clapping are getting out of hand tbh...

Brilliant pun! I cane in to say it was a load of clap trap right from the start.

No. Can’t be bothered with it, sorry but better pay rises for the nhs would be much better.

No more clapping. People in my village clap, and then a while after, lots of them put photo's of themselves clapping on the FB community page.
Some ask eachother if they are going to clap in the day, and then say, see you later then. ha ha.

The sheep are in the streets, instead of the fields !

Very happy to give up a few minutes to clap people sweating it out on the frontline. A few have come on media to say how much it means to them - cos lets face it, it’s not the great pay or working conditions that are keeping them going right now is it?

I like it! It's our crappy version of the Italians singing on the balconies. I would much prefer we all gathered to sing Bella Caio together every night though.

Couldn’t agree more. Clapping for kids?
I’d rather get diseased with The Clap, then have to keep clapping 👏🏻

I agree that once was a lovely gesture but clapping for everything is just over the top.

sniggers at giving people "the clap" it's silly isnt it. Though to be fair I only heard about clapping for bojo on here. I hope he gets better soon, but I certainly won't be clapping for him.

Can't say as I've noticed tbh. the only thing I heard about clapping was on here.
I don't really care what others do if it makes them feel better to clap then that's good for them, surely.
