oh yes, there's photos of me aged 2 or 3 with ridiculously short dresses on, scavvers. Occasional frilly knicker things.

I think the outfit would be fine if it wasn't worn with the shoes.
The models pose makes the outfit look tarty. The skirt and top are not too bad out of that context.

It's only the skirt, you have to buy the top seperately. If the skirt were pink, it would be fine on a 3 year old (IMO). So at what age do short skirts become inapropriate? DH was a bit shocked at a short skirt I'd bought for DD at 12 months because you could see the pants that came with it when she bent over. Both Grandmothers, however, told him it was fine, and you were supposed to see babys pants.

I've looked again. Do you mean the high heels? What't the lettering on the front? No 1 Pro?

How is it being marketed?
I don't understand the op's point

I remember rolling my skirt waistband up a when I was about 12. I don's see the problem with it, as long as someone said it's not fishnets and thigh high boots

I agree with raven; with black leggins and converse it would look OK on a teenger. Not my taste, but it would look OK.

What would be worse, your mother wearing it, or your daughter?

also there is a big difference between what is suitable for an 11 yo and a 16 yo. i used to wear tiny clothes at sixth form, aged 16, but at 11? No chance!

It's awful and completely inappropriate for an 11 year old.

There is a difference between short and slutty. The model looks like she is standing on a street corner. I was in Next the other day and had to get through their prostitutes fancy dress to get to the regular clothes, and that was for 3yo.

It's the 'golddigga' logo emblazoned over it that gets me - bloody awful.

its not about the product its about the way its being marketed.

oh I hate the golddigga logo, its always on the bum

Report
ravenAK · 22/07/2007 18:44

I think it says 'golddigga' across the bum, though - if it was plain it'd be a fairly unremarkable skirt for a 12 year old (with leggings & Converse, say, not fishnets & kinky boots)

I agree WWW, I would allow my 11-16 year old wear that but not with the heels (dd1 (7)could never wear heels anyway, not with splints)

Report
WideWebWitch · 22/07/2007 18:38

Am I missing something? It's just a short ra ra skirt isn't it? What's wrong with that?

Yes, it would be inappropriate worn with black stockings, leather boots/other adult stuff but a plain black short skirt on an 11 yo isn't disgusting per se imo. and I detest the Playboy brand/t shirts with awful slogans/clothes that make children look like prostitutes but surely ths is just a skirt isn't it?
