As per the title!
Am hoping to improve skin and hair with supplements, am considering trying to control hormonal breakouts with evening primrose. Has that actually worked for anyone?

More generally just interested to hear what you take and why

L-tyrosine to supplement my ADs and Indian Ginseng for stress and GAD.

Also bromelian and papain, for the digestive enzymes (have IBS also) and peppermint oil as necessary.

Interesting to read what others take - I previously took ultra high D3 and magnesium for over a year each, but didn't notice any improvement. Or deterioration when I stopped. So I guess I'm not deficient.

Zinc
Feroglobin gentle iron, folic acid and B12

jamon - I have used a magnesium spray by Better You which is good - I found it really relaxed my muscles. I have also tried the Boots magnesium capsules - but they upset my stomach. Am now trying Floradix liquid which is good so far but I think I might slightly prefer the spray.

I take a general multivitamin. I feel it can’t hurt. I don’t take any of the super potency ones though, I can’t see how taking 700% of the rda of anything can be any good for anyone.

I take dandelion root as I retain water like a camel and starflower oil to balance my moods. I also take prescribed tablets for high BP.

Vitamin D as there are higher than 'average' illnesses such as MS in the area I'm from. These are linked to low Vitamin D. Thought NHS advice was now for everyone to take it?

None.
Considering the tan I'm currently sporting, I think I might be good on the ol' Vit. D.

I take a tablespoon or two of organic apple cider vinegar every morning, it helps my stomach and guts but apparently is brilliant for everything else too.

Epsom salt bath or foot soaks for the magnesium, it's best absorbed transdermally rather than by ingesting (but no doubt better to take a supplement of it than not). It's for skin and muscles but apparently good for anxiety too. In the bath / foot soak makes this a double win.

Vitamin tablets when I remember.

None. I guess I’m quite lucky.

I take multivitamins with iron because the first time I gave blood in Scotland and saw the numerical readout on the haemoglobin test it was pretty close to not being allowed to donate and I wouldn't want that. The multivitamins are just a lazy way to take my dose of vitamin D, because I live too far north.

Whatever supplements you decide to take, try and avoid oxide compounds and go for glycerates/citrates, they are far more bio available and more chance of them being absorbed by the body and not pass through.
A good trick is to google the products designed for what you want and look at the ingredient label/declaration and see what’s in them

Deficient in b12 so have injections every 8 weeks. Folic acid and b6 in conjunction with b12.

Deficient in d so take d3. Also take k2 and magnesium as these work with d3.

Low in iron so taking that.

Planning on taking apple cider vinegar

Lutein tablets for eye health as macular degeneration seems to run in the family. In my 40’s I started getting the glare from oncoming traffic at night. There is a huge improvement when taking these tablets and I can’t recommend them enough. Only negative is the cost at £19 a bottle!

apple cider vinegar screwed up my teeth. Don't say you weren't warned.

I take a good all round multivitamin (Swisse), 1000mg of vitamin C for immune reasons (2000mg if I feel a bit run down) turmeric (for inflammation), cod liver oil and DIM complex (for estrogen regulation) :)

And extra magnesium when I'm a bit stressed out, as it gets quickly depleted when you're anxious or overworked.

I take amino acids and magnesium (citrate) to help with anxiety, vitamin b complex, probiotics, and sometimes vitamin d. I also take digestive enzymes at the moment as having gallbladder issues and they’re supposed to help

@misskatamari can I ask what enzymes you are taking? What do they do? I have had my gallbladder removed, digestive system isn't great 😕

Spirulina. Better skin, hair and energy levels. I also take a multivitamin & mineral vitamins, and add in cod liver oil from time to time

I've not had a cold for years, I can't even recall the last time. I don't get flu. I do wonder if this is because I've been taking vitamins day for 30 years at least. I alsoo remember being given cod liver oil by my parents when I was little
