...when you get home vs what you will be doing?

I want to go, have complete silence and be on my own. Maybe a soak in the bath and some wine then take myself off to bed and sleep in the middle.

What I'll actually do is head home, go to the gym for about half an hour, get in, make tea for the child and manchild, usher child to bed then sponge on the sofa watching crap telly.

I'd like to not talk about a person who is dominating all our time. Cuddle up, eat dinner and laugh.
In reality I may eat and the conversation will follow the same path it does every night

I want to sleep all night. But my 1 year old has the cold and has been awake 4-5 times a night for the last few nights and I can't see that changing tonight.

I long to sleep for 7 or 7 and a half hours. I don't think I've done this for 20 years.

To drink wine, eat crisps and not be disturbed by anyone. To not be woken several times during the night by small people.

I would like to be downstairs drinking wine with DH and celebrating our anniversary.

Instead I am sitting in the dark waiting for DS to go the fuck to sleep. And when I do make it down, DH probably won’t want to drink because I think he’s going to log back into work later. Meh.

I want to go and join my friends at our regular fortnightly pub evening, but I can't as I couldn't as my regular babysitter has (selfishly) gone to university and DH is abroad this week.
Instead, I have put my lovely kids to bed and am cuddling the dog whilst I mumsnet (I guess it's not really that bad, tbh). Might get myself a gin and watch some TV.

Would like a full uninterrupted night’s sleep. I won’t have one as I can’t ever seem to do it (literally). I can’t even blame children!
