AIBU?

To not remove my negative feedback on amazon ?

Ordered an item 8 weeks ago and it still haven't arrived. It was needed for an event last week so I don't even really need it now but I will keep it (if it ever turns up) . The seller is from overseas so I was prepared to wait that's why I ordered so far in advanced. It was estimated to arrive on 3rd dec. I recently reviewed the item giving it 1 star and stating I'm still yet to receive it .

The seller has now contacted me offering to refund half the money if I delete my review and add a positive one. I think this is wrong as how can I give good feedback on something I haven't received and don't really need now. I feel they are trying their best to help me. Aibu to leave my negative feedback and accept the refund?

The reviews on Amazon are supposed to be reviewing the product, not the delivery service. I'd take it off.

It really fucks me off that so many things on amazon and ebay are from the other side of the fucking world and its not always immediately obvious, especially on amazon, or theyre hugely optimistic about their delivery dates, or theyre from places that have no idea about UK sizing, and a general population of tiny people.
I am getting so fucked off with online shopping

Sellers can and do ask for bad reviews to be deleted. I once left what I consider a neutral review where I bought a dress ,I pointed out that it was a different shape to the one in the picture. Mine was a column dress and the picture had a flared skirt.Idid say it was good value though. About 2 weeks later I received an email from Amazon saying that my review breached community standards.

Amazon will likely delete it because it is not a product review. You need to review the seller separately.

Your review should reflect the quality of the whole experience - including product, delivery and communications. How else will we know whether the seller is really crap at delivering the product?

In your situation, I would report this as a non-delivery with Amazon and ask for a full refund. Tell them too, what the supplier has 'offered' and that this is unacceptable. Which it is. Once this is resolved to your satisfaction, then you can amend your review accordingly - with the truth.

As several people have said, don't write feedback until you've either received the item or resolved the issues. But I would have no qualms about slating a seller for late/non delivery of an item!

Amazon delete feedback against products when its actually about the seller because multiple sellers sell the same item. That said the differentiation confuses lots of people and its common to see feedback that conflates the two. It would help if the feedback heading specified both item and seller where there are variants of both.

Take it up with Amazon themselves. You should get a full refund for an item which has never been delivered. The seller will have to pursue it through their postal insurance system.

is there a chance the item has got lost or delayed in the post ? It’s a bit unfair to start stamping your feet if the seller has done their bit and the product has just got lost in transit - which happens occasionally.
Did you try to resolve it with the seller before you left negative feedback about them?

@nerrsnerr

Sorry I’ve changed my username

Yes, the OP said she reviewed the product, but it’s unclear for me for two reasons.
The seller is less likely to care on a product review, as it isn’t linked specifically to their sellers profile, so less chance of people reading about their bad service unless the customer trawls through every single product review, and the OP mentioned their name.
Also The first emails I get when buying from amazon marketplace ask predominantly about the seller and while there is a link to review product, the seller feedback is more dominant as and asks 3 questions with star ratings against factors such as speed etc.

If you don't receive the item you can ask Amazon for a refund, I think.

I wouldn't remove the review if it was honest and true.

I wish Amazon wouldn't pester for reviews of products.

I'm an author and I often find low-starred reviews of my books (which bring down my overall rating) saying things like '1* - haven't read it yet'.

Honestly, you don't HAVE to post a review when you get the email!

Personally I find it a bit annoying when people give really low scores for an item that they haven’t received. On Amazon I expect the reviews to reflect the quality of the product, not the service of the seller

There are two review systems and generally amazon will not publish a review of an item which is actually a review of the seller. Not sure how this one by the OP got through.

I would report the seller to Amazon and cancel the order. Companies can’t bribe you for good feedback.

It’s not 100% clear which the OP has used (I imagine it’s the seller feedback, but people are confusing it with reviews)

The op put ‘ I recently reviewed the item giving it 1 star and stating I'm still yet to receive it’ so that implies it was the product feedback.

This must be the Chinese seller who offered the same thing to me. I said Amazon guaranteed full refund and I will not remove the review. They refunded my money next day and the purchase never showed up.

For those whose don't know about seller reviews on Amazon (different to product reviews)
See pics...

  1. Click on chosen product from list
  2. Click on seller information
  3. Click on seller's % rating
  4. Read seller's reviews

Did you message the seller before putting the review on?

I had this with an item that was coming from China, it hadn’t arrived weeks after the due date, so I sent an email chasing it up.

They emailed back straight away being really apologetic, saying it may be delayed due to customs and possibly may be arrive at all, and refunded me straight away. It was a very low value item so I wasn’t that fussed about the money, but still.

This was weeks ago, and it arrived yesterday, funnily enough.

My point is, did you give them the opportunity to ou things right before you posted the review?

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 17/12/2017 10:21

did they dispatch on time? If so the delay is not their fault. You accept when you buy things overseas that delays might happen and the post is out of their control. Had you tried contacting them before the review and had no reply? Only then would a negative review be justified. Otherwise you are damaging their business (could well be a small business - I sell via amazon and am a very small handmade business - reviews are so important and one bad one can have a devastating impact) and should delete.

Sandy, you shouldn't have left a product review because you haven't received the product. How can you review an item you don't have?! If you mean you've been asked to leave seller feedback, then that's different entirely and you were well within your rights to say the service was rubbish and why. It really irritates me when buyers leave seller FB in the product review section because it skews the overall results. And it's just plain wrong.

@inspmorse yes, that’s exactly why seller feedback exists and should be put there, but the product page reviews should be reviews about the product itself and not seller specific stuff, as the product can be from many sellers. The feedback requests are automated. You could just ignore the emails instead of being bratty about it.

Your review shouldn’t have stood, it wasn’t about the product. By all means let the seeker know you’re cross, but ifnim looking at reviews I want to know how the product fares, not that you didn’t get it. It’s a bad as those ridiculous reviews that say it’s a gift so they have fuck all idea what it’s like.

Not for me. Amazon is now as bad as eBay. Some sellers provide rubbish service & I always check out where the item is coming from & the seller's reviews.

Why haven't you opened an Amazon A to Z guarantee request?
There's a 90 day time limit as a rule, I've recently had to raise a claim as my Christmas tree was lost in transit. Amazon checked my issue with the seller and issued the full refund.
Look up your order on the Amazon site or app, then click on claim to start the process.
It is way more effective than the negative review!
