AIBU?

To be still grinning at such silliness?

So I was casually minding my own business, plodding along when I heard a fella on the phone state that:

Well it was clearly Thursday that broke the camel's straw...

I just about rounded the corner chuckling to myself hoping he didn't notice 😂

What other common sayings have heard people say wrong?

These are hilarious Grin

I visited my mother yesterday who told my recumbent brother to sit up - and then to 'stop slouching' as he looked like the Hatchback of Notre Dame.

English isn't her first language and she gets properly cross when we burst out laughing... but she's so unintentionally funny. She does see the funny side when it's explained we're not laughing at her.

Bless my mum she's told me she's getting a Dolmio mattress. She means Dormeo but I can't help picturing her & dad going to sleep on a giant lasagne

My SIL’s mum used to say how much she loved hanging Christmas cards off the dildo rail in the lounge 😂

I used to think bombsitit was a word as my mum used to walk into my bedroom saying it looked like a bomb’s hit it..

I was chatting to FIL about the war and specifically about VD day, been married for 23 years and he still mentions it..

Slightly different but my 25 year old niece is funny though, when I said her grandad had an allotment she asked if he slept there when away with Work (thought I meant apartment) and when I said I couldn’t do Zumba because I’ve two left feet she asked if I had to buy special shoes..

Friend of a friend: "It's a real mindfield"

Although I think I've seen "mindfield" used on MN too... maybe it's her!

Cripes on a bike is probably a euphemism.

I have to pause and double check my brain with the Tim Curry/Rice thing sometimes. Doesn't help that it's been a said accidentally on purpose joke in our household for ages.

A guy at work kept going on about an actor called Tim Rice who was in The rocky horror picture show...

I about died when I realised his brain had turned Tim Curry into Tim Rice Grin

Cripes on a Bike is another one I've heard as an expression of surprise/exasperation (a La Christ on a Bike)

A family member was telling me about the Jungle Book film, including their favourite character - the elephants' leader Colonel Gaddafi Grin Grin

DS put his jumper on the wrong way round once and declared it "inside to front", which we still use for things and situations which have gone a bit wrong.
