Just thinking back on a weird experience from several years ago.

I was walking along a narrow country road by myself, on an overcast, rather oppressively humid summer's day. It was a couple of miles from my home and I had travelled the road quite often by car, but never on foot.

All of a sudden I began to have the strangest feeling that something terrible was going to happen if I stayed on the road any longer. I shook it off and kept walking. The atmosphere changed. The birds were still singing, there wasn't anyone in sight... I can't explain but it felt like the hedges were almost coming closer together around me. Like a really oppressive feeling on this beautiful, deserted road.

Eventually I rang home to get someone to come and lift me, claiming to have felt a few drops of rain starting to fall. I was too embarrassed to give 'intuition' as my reason.

It was such a strange feeling, not one I've ever had before or since, there or anywhere else. I am totally non-woo but think maybe there was some reason I wasn't meant to stay there that day- it was very narrow and winding and I could have been hit by a car easily, I suppose.

Anyone else ever had gut feelings about things, either rightly or wrongly?

As a child (about 6) I was cycling along a village road, playing out in my head how I would give directions to the animal sanctuary - I had never been asked for directions anywhere, but it sounded like an important thing to do so I wanted to be prepared. Car comes along, stops and asks directions to the animal sanctuary.
Another one, age about 12, we were driving along a track to see a friend, I get a vision of burned out fields (weird and hadn't ever seen any before) turn a few corners and they they were.

Also get very strong deja-vu to the point I know the next few words someone will say or something.

I'm sure time is kind of spiraly

I've had many and I now write them down and date them . My family absolutely believe me but I wouldn't tell others. They'd think I was crazy. My most recent was knowing, as soon as a distant relative became pregnant, that she'd have a girl and I knew the name too. I actually scared myself a bit.

I used to work in a residential Home for the elderly before I had my children.
Five years after I had left there I thought of an elderly lady who I had grown to love and wondered how she was.
I hadn't thought of her for a long time.
Half an hour later I picked up the local paper to find her name in the obituaries.

Several.
The spookiest was following a period that I had, had to relearn to drive after a car accident. I was new to driving a manual car and heading up a very steep hill that had a crossroads at the top. There were stop signs for the road crossing the one I was driving on.
Halfway up the hill, ( i was driving with windows down and no radio) I heard very clearly the sound two cars make in a collision at speed .THee thud, the glass all of it. It gave me a fright, and I stalled the car . I performed a hill start and continued onwards. There were no other cars visible.
Just before I reached the crossroads - which I would've been in the middle of without the fright, a car charged through the stop sign at high speed. If I hadn't stalled, it would've collected me in the drivers side - and that would've been the end of me.
I was so spooked, I called the local police stations to see if there had been any accidents in the vicinity. Nothing.
I am convinced I heard the sound of the acccident that would've killed me, but the sound premonition saved me.

Second one, when we were living in an isolated location a dude that used to work for us occasionally always used to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I would never let him in the house when I was on my own. Another woman who lived on the same property felt the same way.
Neither of our husbands "got it", and thought he was a great bloke. Turned out that great bloke was later arrested for a series of previously unsolved rapes that took place in the remote locations his job took him to.

I have loads more, all which have taught me to pay attention to premonitions and spidey-senses.

I sometimes have really vivid dreams which end up happening. Sometimes they're really small things but sometimes it's big things that are in the news. The dreams can be so vivid that when it ends up happening for real I get confused because I think it's already happened.

Another thing which isn't a premonition but I've always found weird was one night I was walking my dog. It was after dark and I was taking her to the park, which I often do as it is in a safe area and a very well lit and safe park. This night though when we got to the gate of the park my dog stopped and refused to go in, something she would never usually do. Her weird behaviour freaked me out a bit so I turned back and went straight home. A woman's body was found along the road later the next day.

I had a premonition about the explosive on the Tube in London in September. But the creepy thing is, I can't remember what I thought, but I knew it was a premonition!

Used to drive home on windy country lanes and always used to know when there was going to be a deer in the road.

Also when I was little I dreamt that I was in my childminders car at the top of her road, and I let the handbrake off. We rolled down into the river at the bottom. Next day the barriers were all smashed. Coincidence I'm sure but I'll never forget it.

I've got one. When i was 15 my parents went away for a two week holiday and left me and my best mate in charge of the house. School summer hols.

We had a great time. Basically slobbed around and trashed the place planning to clean up on the last day.

In the afternoon 3 days before they were due home i sat bolt upright on the sofa in the middle of the mess and hollered to my friend that we must tidy up right now because my parents would be home in 45 minutes !!.

I'd had a clear picture of my parents driving along a particular bit of road about 45 mins away and began rushing around like a loon clearing up the empties rubbish.

Friend was Hmm but got off her arse and slowly started to help me.

45 mins later my parents walked in Shock

Okay, this has happened to me, too. Well, happened, regularly, but only ever with the landlady of the house next door. Actually had me convinced I was psychic for a short while as a teen - until my very clever mum rightly pointed out that that woman was the most vapid person she'd ever met and challenged me to predict what she was going to say while I was fully awake. To noone's surprise but my own, it still worked ... Grin

Loobybear that happens to me too and I have conversations in my dream with people which then happen in real life. Phew, glad I’m not the only one.

I have dreamt about things that have happened the next day. For example I dreamt that Tony Blair was having chest pains and it was reported on the news later that day that he had been taken to hospital.

I once dreamt that someone had been attacked by a crocodile. The following morning I looked at the papers and sure enough, someone had been killed by a croc.

Another time, when I was 17, I had a random thought about my friend. The next day I found out she died in an accident at the time I was thinking about her. I don't suppose that's a premonition though.

I often experience small things, like thinking about someone and then they contact me.

Oh, I forgot one! After a friend's wedding (and meeting her husband for the first time), I knew they'd be getting divorced in 6 months. Six months later they were starting divorce proceedings. I'm not normally pessimistic about people's weddings!

Several years ago I was driving to work, had just joined the motorway - weather was icy and very light snow, nothing too drastic or enough to disrupt traffic.
Anyway, the car in front swerved very slightly and it just completely panicked me (I’m a confident driver normally) and I couldn’t stop thinking I shouldn’t be driving that day . I came off at the next exit and worked from home that day, fibbing and told my work there was very heavy snow where I was and couldn’t get in. Later that day, the weather suddenly turned and the snow fell really thick. DH was stuck on motorway for 8 hours trying to get home, so many accidents on the news and the transport minister actually had to resign over the chaos and lack of planning/accidents caused.

Every day, we do many things, are part of many events. We also have many random thoughts, dreams, whatever.
It's just basic maths that once in a while there will be an overlap.
In fact, it would be much more remarkable if we never experienced "premonitions".

I knew with my first baby both that I was pregnant as soon as we'd had sex (literally the first time since we'd decided to try) and that I'd miscarry. I knew as soon as I did the test that it wouldn't last. I couldn't get excited and really played it down to my DH. Sure enough, I had a small bleed and went for a scan at 10 weeks to find the baby had stopped growing at about 6 weeks.

Then with my now DD, I knew throughout my entire pregnancy that I'd have a difficult birth and I'd end up having a section. I really bought into water birthing and hypnobirthing but I remember joking at my six week scan and every subsequent one that I'd be back in that hospital to deliver (different location to the hospital with the birth centre/pools etc) I knew. I was the one asking about the drugs and the impact on the baby at NCT even though the leader clearly didn't want to discuss it, I wouldn't let it drop. I was the only one of seven to have a c-section.

I remember them telling me that I'd got to have the csection (I'd already got an epidural) and I said that I needed a general anaesthetic. They dismissed me, then sure enough another bleed and a failed spinal later I had a general.

Not sure if it's mother knows best or woo.

I was travelling by train to a city I had not been to before, to meet at a workplace with people I'd not met before.
As we came to my stop a noticed a girl, and thought 'she's going to the same place' but she did not get off the train and I had an urge to tell her this was her stop. But I didn't as I would have looked crazy.
Went into work, and about an hour later who walks in the door. Same girl who was late as she'd missed her stop on the train.....

When I was 28 weeks pregnant dds dad worked away mon-fri. One weekend I had an uneasy feeling and asked him to stay home until after a midwife appointment on the Tuesday morning. I didn't have any ill symptoms and had only booked half a day off work myself. The initial midwife appointment was at 10.30am.. by 1pm dd was born by EMCS. He would have been 5 hours drive away and missed the birth if I hadn't asked him to stay.

I was waiting to pull out and a lorry was oming towards me. I thought I need to be infront of that lorry, so I pulled out. 30 seconds later one of its tyres burst. It pulled over to the side and no one was hurt, but I wonder what would have happened if my little car had been behind it.

I was in the city centre in Dublin some years ago. As I was walking along, for some reason the thought crossed my mind 'I'm safe so long as I am on the footpath'... No idea what prompted the thought.

Exactly a week later, a bus mounted the footpath, not far from where I had been the previous week, and a number of people were killed.

I have no idea whatsoever, what prompted that thought.

Yes a few. A couple of weeks ago I bought a strip of raffle tickets. I looked at a particular number and knew it would win. Out of over 600 tickets, it did.

I had a vision of 2 boys and a girl. That’s what I’ve got.

I had a dream that Maddie Macann us in a storm drain in a remote area in Spain. I hope that’s not true, poor girl.

I had a vision my mil would get dementia. I kind of saw her in my minds eye, like a snap shot, a picture of the future. I don’t know if it fill come true but the image has never left me.

I had a dream that my dad died on the 23rd Dec and I didn't know what to do with his gifts. I told my sister... she let slip and told my dad Hmm. Every year, I'd have a sense of forbidding when buying his gifts... and the. he'd ring me and say "I'm still here!" on the 24th...
He died on the 19th Dec about 10 yrs later. It was anticipated at the time, but I like to think my "premonition" helped people mentally prepare for that Xmas.

I was in my kitchen at Chrstmas and I had this sudden vision in my head of my FIL falling backwards down the stairs. I raced out of the kitchen and was half way up the stairs when he fell and I stopped his fall.

We struggled to conceive DC1 and was told to start trying for DC2 earlier than planned. I was expecting it to take a while. Then one day after I stopped taking the pill, I had this weird knowledge that this would be the night I would get pregnant and it would be a girl. After we dtd, I just had this feeling of 'ok, we've done it'. I was right. It was the weirdest feeling as I just knew it definitely would happen that night. I've had more random stuff like thinking of someone then seeing them or thinking of a certain episode of a programme it it randomly being on but this was the strongest feeling I've ever had.

My nan has loads. She knew I was going to have a difficult birth with DS (although didn't tell me until after). She was once on a plane and told someone next to her that something was going to go wrong with an engine but they would be fine, the engine caught fire mid flight. Loads of stuff that is very hard to explain.
