To ask what is your favourite perfume that you can actually smell after an hour?

Lots of times someone will walk past me and there will be an overriding whiff of a gorgeous perfume they're wearing (should I ask what it is, would that be weird?). I can never seem to find one that lasts a good while.

An hour ago I put on Cacherel, Noa, and I swear it's gone already...but smelled lovely for the first 5 minutes. Have I just gotten used to it or is it just crap? I just want a lovely, sweet, vanilla type fragrance that lasts a bit longer but have yet to find it.

I love Ghost's Deep Night, and Angel (thierry mugler?) but I've run out and can't remember if they lasted well. I've actually got a Jade Goody one that lasts pretty well despite being very cheap! I'd love Shalimar, but don't want to waste money if it doesn't linger. I've also tried a Kate Moss one (horrid), and Givenchy-irresistible, which I think was quite decent. Any good recommendations?

I am a big fan of strong perfumes. I rotate between Poison, Freak by illamasqua and Alien.

I wear Chanel no 19, I think it lasts well and I can always smell it because I've been wearing it for more than 30 yrs and so I'm tuned into it. Im not sure other people can though, I've never been complimented on it, makes me sad.

J'Adore by Dior.

But most of the time, it's not that the perfume has faded, it's just that you can no longer smell it. Other people will still be able to.

For me:
Coco Mademoiselle
Viva la Juicy
Burberry Brit Rhythm ('for her')

I wear Chloe. I love it. Lasts all day - but quite pricey.

Also wear Stella McCartney as my alternate.

My mum says I have expensive tastes. :)

Coco Chanel.

It’s one of only 2 perfumes I’ve been complemented on multiple times.

The other is Tom Ford Portofino.

I've been given many perfumes over the years. Bizarrely, the one people comment on and lasts the longest, is a Lidl one called Suddenly that my MIL bought me.

Chanel Allure is my posh squirt and lasts very well. My daughter associates that smell with me and gives herself a little spray of it on odd days when she needs a bit of reassurance (she's 18, so last time was her driving test). I use EDP rather than EDT as it lasts better and you need less.

Otherwise Chloe Narcisse is an oldie but lasts very well on me and I still often get asked what perfume I'm wearing as it just seems to work well with and stay on my skin.

I treated myself to a big bottle of a lovely Armani woman scent that smells gorgeous but lasts about 20 minutes on me. What a waste of money that was!

In fact the scent that lasts the absolute best and longest on me is a Bronnley Royal Horticultural Society Rose EDT. Lasts forever.

Alien by Thierry Mugler is my go to scent. But it is quite strong. When someone walks past me and they are wearing it I can tell. I love it though and will always be my go to perfume. I always get so many compliments.

I also find Avon perfumes last a long time too. I love Little black Dress. Cheap and cheerful!

Vivienne Westwood's Boudoir. I've never found anything else to rival this and it gets better throughout the day

If you like vanilla, then Guerlain Shalimar is available on Ebay.
Perfume Parlour, Lynn Young, Al Rehab, Miltons and vintage perfumes from Ebay like Tweed are my favourites. I'd wear Mitsouko more often if it werent for the price tag.

Valentino Donna, the Mango shop's own perfume and the Boss Oranges are quite long lasting and slightly musky.

Disclaimer......We deal in black humour in this house.

Christmas 2015 I was recovering from thirty (count 'em) rounds of radio and six vicious rounds of chemo.

We were not due to know if it had worked until mid January.

My DH at my request bought me a bottle of No 5 EDP.

My then 14 year old son, picked it up, peered at it, and said......... Eau de parfum........ spenny........... he clearly expects you to live. Grin

Si by Armani is fabulous. Ditto Chanel No5 & Stella by Stella McCartney. Agree though that EDP is the way to go for long-lasting scent. EDT doesn't have the same staying power.

No. 5 is my go to (I kniw, I'm an old lady). The L'occitane ones last very well and come in very nice scents-they used to do roll on sticks (about five years ago, haven't shopped there for a while so I don't know any more) that you could slip in your purse in case you wanted to apply sone during the day without spraying it everywhere.

Ive wirn calvin klein obsession every day since the 80's people always ask me what im wearing and say how nice it is.
Had a few tries with others and really like nina ricci l'air du temps but the very expensive flower bomb i had bought for me only seems to last an hour or so.
A friend wears blue grass and smelks divine but when I bought and tried some I ended up with a terrible migraine.

Problem with channel no5 (eau premier) is our 3 yr old son said 'ooh mummy, you smell just like playdoh'

And having said that, it does indeed smell just like playdoh. It really does!

Oh well, saves me a fortune!

Oh, Chanel No 5, just lasts for ever. A present from DH when we were dating (nearly 50 years ago!). But I like most of the Chanel ones, and just treated myself to their new one, Gabrielle, in duty free!

Of course the perfum you think smells great others mighr think smells shite.

And any perfum that can be smelt at more than a foot away is overpowering shite 🙂

Clinique's Happy and Body shop white musk are my favourites.

Cannot abide over sprayed and strong perfumes, gives me a stinking migraine.

Pehaligon's Bluebell. I love the solid perfume that you put on with your finger, rather than a spray.
