Should I? I think she's too young! Just turned 11 in July...

These are my DDs similar to your daughters

DD 11 wants her eyebrows waxed...

My DD has had hers threaded since she was 12. She has darker brows than the OPs. They weren't too old for her, the threading lady just gently tidied them up.

She is now 20 and it's the one thing she still has done every four weeks or so.

Plus it's better she wants this than the horrendous massive drawn in eyebrows that seem to be the teen trend

They are a nice shape. I'd go for threading and just tidy up. I wouldn't have a problem but then I'm dark and got mine done when I was 11

Monobrow is different - stands out and (wrongly) Dc can be bullied. The OP’s DD’s brows are not especially heavy.

Teens can pay for their own treatments. This DD is 11.

I could have had that monobrow. Plucking was fine. Did not over pluck - too painful. Did the bare minimum. If the OP does just the middle and strays underneath brow on eyelid for her DD there will no danger of over plucking. Less cost. A light brow powder is enough to define them and washes off. Good starting point, I think and low cost.

NOt good IMO to encourage girls and young women to spend time and ££ on ”beauty” treatments.

You clearly didn't have a monobrow that came down virtually to the top of your eyes then... Sad

DD had hers done recently and they look lovely

Like it or not 'eyebrows' are the trend for teens - they are obsessed

Just let her and judge the result for yourself

Both my dd had them waxed at this age, I'd rather that they were done properly by a hairdresser I've trusted for years than plucked by themselves in the bathtub.

I get them done every other hair cut now - every three months and they are 11 and 13

It’d be a no from me, as her eyebrows are nice. Different if noticeable bushy/monobrow and risk of bullying.

As someone who overplucked within an inch of their life in my teenage years and now have to spend hundreds of pounds on getting them microbladed as I was literally bald above the eyeballs I promised myself that once my baby girl gets old enough to want her eyebrows doing I will pay for her to have them waxed/threaded professionally so she doesn't suffer a similar fate to myself Grin I would say based on her age threading may be better, as waxing can be quite harsh especially if you've never had it before! I still can react now from a hot wax and I've been getting waxed for years.

Why don't you offer to pluck out the bits she hates? Then you can at least prevent over plucking. Brows are fashionably thick these days anyway. People get them tattooed on ! So only the middle and stray hairs on the eyelid would ever be plucked. Her eyebrows don't look that thick anyway. Maybe a light eyebrow powder would make them look more like she wants and it can be washed off. It would define them a bit.

I said No to my DD when she was 12, so she went off and dealt with them herself with tweezers. There wasn't much left after that and it wasn't a great look. So she's spent 18 months filling them in subtly with Brow pencil and shadow. She stopped using tweezers at my request (repeated requests!) and she now has them dealt with properly by a beautician (who is also a friend). They look really nice and normal now - I wish I'd added in the first place. Our beautician has also taught my DD the correct way to look after her eyebrows if she feels the urge to deal with a random appearing hair.

Get them done!

Go for it. Get them done professionally though. Your dad brows look lively, personally I don't think she needs them done, there is hardly any hair. At that age I had thick dark mono brow (Mediterranean decent). I hated it as a young child, and would have loved to know about waxing.

I'm a beauty therapist and we regularly have clients around your daughters age.
She would only need a little tidy up underneath and in the middle.
If she concerned about pain I would choose waxing over threading. Much quicker.

Threading for me is much more painful than waxing! Threading bloody hurt me badly. No pain at all with waxing and they look much better.

I had mine threaded for years until my friend asked me why I was putting myself through pain.

She has lovely eyebrows but Id let her if she's feeling self conscious. Threading is much better and looks more natural than waxing though.

Ah, what about tweezering out any bit she doesn't like? Cheap and you could easily stop at one hair if she changes her mind. If you only do the stragglers between and underneath the main brows shouldn't be a problem.

FaithAgain · 07/10/2017 15:09

I would go for threading over waxing if you can find someone locally. It's less painful and gives a better finish IMO.

Report
ziggzagg · 07/10/2017 15:00

Sorry she's not miserable over them! I said I was getting mine done and she asked if she could have hers done too! Doesn't matter now she changed her mind once we got to the salon!Grin
