Thompson twins were great. How has Tom managed not to have aged in 30 years?!

Child of 68, and I bloody love those TOTP. Thank you to the PP who directed me to Absolute 80's I had it on all afternoon.

Don't think the Thompson Twins have been mentioned.

Used to live for TOTP on a Thursday night: was Boy George a girl or boy, how quickly could you dress like Madonna, how awesome was Annie Lennox, how much fun were Wham? God I envied Shirley!

Can you remember how the audience would be wearing something like headboppers or leg warmers on a Thursday and by the Disco the next week everyone would have it?

I loved Mike "cats bum mouth" announcing the Frankie ban while we all dang our heads off to it.

@Destinysdaughter

It sure was the best ever, and so edgy I am surprised at some of the stuff they got away with.

I raise you TOTPS and give you The Tube
Ran from 83 to 87 I think ... live from Newcastle with Hooks Holland, Paula Yates and Muriel Gary.

Had to watch it, we were transfixed ... will never forget Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Relax .. shocked! I couldn't eat my tea Smile

That Will You song is fabulous. You can hear her soooooo wanting him to stay.

I downloaded The Eighth Day (is it?) the other day. Brilliantly bonkers. Glorious.

If I had to pick one song that epitomises the 80s in all its glory it would probably be The Whole Of The Moon- best "pop" song ever. And on my November 1985 compilation tape. Grin Just a rollicking happy vibe with it.

Love the 80's, I was born in 1969 and left school in 1987!

I saw Depeche Mode, Wham, King, Level 42, Erasure, Tears for Fears in concert- all songs I have on my iPod to this day.

Fave music!

Amazing destiny, was it their last tour you saw? Think David was happier on that one, glad it was soon to be overGrin

This was never a hit, but it's brilliant, and still relevant today!

I adored Slik. I had posters on my wall of them.

DramaAlpaca · 29/05/2017 18:25

Oh, I love that Slik song I'm old too. Midge Ure looks so young - I suppose that's because he was!

I'm old enough to have seen 'Breaking Glass' at the cinema when it was released Grin

The CD is still available on Amazon (as is the DVD albeit at an eye watering price Shock). Hazel O'connor has always been hugely underrated IMO.

especially Party Fears Two which is just beautiful. Still sad about Billy Mackenzie.

I think the whole Sulk album is pretty amazing.

For me it was Joy Division, then New Order, The The, Killing Joke, Sisters of Mercy, struggles to remember.
Absolutely not mainstream stuff. Pete Shelley's Homosapien single, loved it. Some Bauhaus, Peter Murphy's solo album Deep, with 'Cuts you up' on it.
I actually wore out two vinyl copies of Night Time (KJ).
