To eat toast in bed?

Back from the nursery drop off and straight into bed with some marmite toast and left over Christmas chocolates. Is this a judgeable offence like the whole pyjama thing or does everyone eat in bed?

Marmite toast in bed is pne of life's greatest pleasures - sadly I can't eat wheat anymore.

Breakfast in bed is one of life's great pleasures! Enjoy it (from someone who feels very strongly on the pyjama issue that it is lazy and slovenly, for balance!)

Hah, x-post with Keekaw, I can think up original phrasing, honest!

Crumbs don't bother me but I think that's because I have a cheeky labrador that sneaks into my bed every day and leaves dog sand all over the sheets so I spend a good 10 minutes with a lint roller on them every night anyway

YABU but only if you eat it on your side of the bed. Shuffle over to the DH's side and then brush any crumbs out his side. Thus avoid any on your bit Grin

Haha, the bed is all to myself. My ex was worse. He'd get the munchies in the early hours and wake me up chomping on endless biccys Angry

Breakfast in bed is one of life's pleasures.

DH brings it on a little table with a flower in a vase and everything Smile

I make DP put a blanket down if he's going to. Other food is fine but toast crumbs are the WORST.

I hate it when you get toast crumbs in bed. Although I will eat other food in bed.

Eat toast in bed, then put puppy in bed to hoover up the crumbs. Win win.

I always eat breakfast in bed and my toddler eats breakfast in bed with me. I make him sit on a blanket though. I had breakfast in my parents' bed with my mum til I was about 12 I think Blush So there's a long family history of crumby beds.

I really don't get the breakfast in bed thing?
Can someone explain where the pleasure of it lies?
As far as i can see it's a lot of hassle to get everything you need on a tray and take it upstairs then balance it on your knees (?) and then try to eat without crumbs and then have to take it all back down again....
I would rather just eat downstairs to start with.
Instead i love having a cup of tea and nutella toast on the sofa and watch some trashy tv while the DC are napping in the afternoon

On Sunday when DP and DS left early for a sports event I got up and made myself tea, toast and marmite and went back to bed with it. Heaven Smile

(And there's no way I would ever go out in my PJs!)

I got - the trick is you stay in bed, and someone else go gets breakfast, brings it up, then takes it empty back down.

DH often brings me a fry up in bed at the weekend, and there's nothing nicer than toast & jam with a coffee on a day off work. I make it and go back to bed for an hour...bliss.

I have breakfast in bed every day! Dh makes porridge and coffee and brings it up to me. I'd say I've had it every day for the past 16 years!

Sometimes (rarely) I have toast but the crumbs to drive me a bit mad and I don't eat much bread anymore.

Breakfast in bed is one of my main indulgences!

Ok, but i can still see a few problems with that - when I wake up i need to pee and i need to brush my teeth, so would need to get out of bed anyway. But ok, I suppose I could get back in again.
Now the second problem is that DH (who would presumably be the one bringing the tray) would get everything wrong- I'm quite particular about my tea and my toast.
Thirdly- the biggest issue is that i have 2 young DC and there is no way in hell that i will let them- a toddler and a 4y old - have breakfast in bed - I have got patience but not THAT much.

I let the kids eat in our bed. Porridge or Greek yogurt and granola isn't messy

Eurgh, no. Eating in bed is only for if you are too ill to cone downstairs.

I hate eating in bed. I'm turning into my father who can only eat sitting at a table!

If I were prone to judgieness I would find eating in bed far more slovenly than wearing pyjamas outside. Luckily, it's your house, your toast, and your crumbs to enjoy as you wish.

Mm you are making me want to take my afternoon toast up into my lovely bed.

DH and I have toast and coffee in bed twice most weekends and I have never encountered a crumb? We are clearly more skilled than average at using a plate. A naice butler tray helps.

I used to live breakfast in bed but not since we moved into the loft room, by the time the breakfast gets up two flights of stairs it's cold. I stick to tea in bed now.

Toast is just acceptable to DH but he goes ballistic if it's Matzos or rice cakes saying they're really 'sharp' crumbs. I can get away with these on really cold nights as he wears so much he doesn't notice them so just a winter pleasure!

Report
BlackCatsRule · 09/01/2017 20:53

Ok as long as absolutely no crumbs!
