AIBU?

Dishwasher madness!

Just emptied and refilled our (full-size) dishwasher for the 2nd time today ( and it's not even bed time... AIBU to think this is ridiculous?

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids (3&1) and we do tend to cook from scratch. DD also has an afternoon nursery place which means she needs to be fed before I drop her off at 12.00. This means we can sometimes end up with 5 mealtimes over the day, which might explain some of it. But even so it seems ridiculous.

How many times do you run your dishwasher every day?

About once a day but maybe twice if I bake etc, 2 of us at the moment. Will wash up pans sometimes.

Every other day but we don't wash pots and pans in it. 2 adults, 4 year old and baby.

4 of us. Never need to run the dishwasher more than once a day unless we have guests. We cook from scratch.

every other day with a full size one.
partly due to stacking cleverly and partly due to re-using cups.

Goes on after dinner, or if at home during the day and cooking then after lunch and dinner.

It costs something like 30p to run a load and it is more economical than running hot water and washing things up by hand.

britbat I laughed out loud at that. Sorry, not showing much solidarity.

We are a family of three and usually fill it once a day. But we are tenacious in our aim to fill every single space. Everything still comes out clean even when it's piled high.

Three of us here and we normally run it once a day, maybe twice at the weekend. Today we had friends round for a big Sunday lunch and we've had it on 5 times!! We wash everything through it though-saucepans and all.

I was reading an article the other day that said multiple dishwashers is the must have for kitchen design.

I'm always filling mine. I think in all reality I should just replace my cupboards with them and live out of them 😂

3 of us, once a day

Handwashing? I posess no kitchenalia that doesn't go in the dishwasher -possibly because it got ruined so obviously wasn't meant to be-

Good grief, there's two of us, both out at work all day and our full size dishwasher runs a minimum of twice a day, sometimes three times. I guess we load it really badly Blush

Once or twice a day, and 2-3 times a day at the weekend. The DCs will happily help unload, but hate loading the icky plates etc. hardly ever wash by hand these days. love it!

I'd love two dishwashers - I will probably install them when I get the kitchen refurbed.

4 of us. Once a day on average.

Some meals will use more pans than others, and some will be reheats so just a minimum generated.

Why 5 meals per day?

I've got two dishwashers. At least one is in every day and there are only three of us. Once you've put pans or baking dishes in there isn't much room left. It's not ridiculous

Hopefully one day the law will be changed to allow women to buy and install dishwashers, but until then...

Once a day usually. Our dishwasher broke in June and dh has put off replacing it til yesterday 😡 I've had to wash up 3 times a day for 5 months, so I'll never, ever moan about doing the dishwasher again!

Isis ally once but it was twice today as we made pancakes from scratch and then a roast. It's generally needs only to be on once though.

We are a family of three and it is often on twice a day.

I cook from scratch and put pots and pans in the dishwasher. So often our evening meal is enough to fill up the dishwasher once.
