'What do we have in for tea'
'Meatballs, pasta and sauce or steak and potato pie and peas'
'I don't fancy either of those'
'What do you fancy then?'
'I don't know'

Aargh, I've started responding with 'what a wonderful dilemma to have, do you know how many people would love to be in your shoes' Angry

It's seriously pissing me off!

DH eats whatever I put in front if him. Sometimes I ask him what he fancies as in:
"I've got some chicken, do you want curry or roast?"
Some times he will ask for something specific, usually pie but if I cba to cook it, that's fine.

The only thing he has ever said "don't do that again" was vegan butter bean bake. It was truly vile.

Because you are giving him a CHOICE of what to eat???

Think about how your aunt dealt with the situation. She had the right attitude Grin

Is anyone else depressed at how many households have the female as the default cook?

I'm a great default cook. I also get home much earlier than DH.

I am a sahm and far better in the kitchen. Dh makes everything taste like washing up liquid and I don't understand how.

thatdearoctopus not really. The women in question are adults and therefore perfectly capable of saying to their partners if doing the majority of the cooking doesn't suit.

You'd need to know if the male of the family does the majority of x, y and z and even then, everyone has a tongue in their head.

I'm the default cook because I work from home and it is my hobby. :) DH does sometimes complain he never gets the chance though. (He, however, is a last minute, non-planning, looks- in- the- fridge- to- see -what- we- have- at- 6.26- after- the- simpsons- has- finished- cook. And his specialty is mushroom risotto which I hate .)

He wolfs down whatever I cook and always says it is delicious though.

DH is our default cook. He's better than me. However, I do the food shopping so get to choose meals. Win win Smile

I give DP two options for dinner every night. Take it or leave it Wink

I cook the meals and no one has a say in what we have. Dh has never complained and is just grateful that he gets a cooked meal most nights. If someone doesn't like what I've made then they make themselves a sandwich or soup. Is a home not a cafe.
