AIBU?

To think that black is the only colour for a car?

Apart from cute little Fiats or whatever, which can carry pink, lime green etc quite happily...
But a grown up car: can it be a colour that's not black? Or maybe, at a pinch, very dark metallic grey?
And if it's black outside, does it have to be black inside as well?
Obviously I use the term 'has to' loosely and not in a sense that everyone will be willing to recognise. But basically, if you were buying a car, and had some input as to colour, would you go for anything that wasn't black?

YABU. My car is sort of metallic gold-ish.

I hardly ever have to wash it Wink

I have a gorgeous yellow car... Every time I get In It it makes me smile! I can always find it in the car park and I'm probably having a mid life crisis but my job makes me miserable but getting there and back makes me smile!

Silver cars should be banned they are difficult to see at sunrise sunset rain fog and nay time where the light is a bit strange. Should come with mandatory full beam on at all times to compensate.its worse in rural areas Ps my vision is fine .

Black cars??!! Shock Nooo! The only cars that should be black are hearses and taxis.

I speak as someone who used to own a Golf that was the same colour as the 'yolk' in a Cadbury's Creme Egg. Grin

Although, I now have a very sensible b̶o̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ metallic 'silver champagne' colour car. Hmm

my previous cars have been black or silver and the last one was a pale blue.

We now have a big white 4 x 4. I call it the fridge

I think it really depends on the car.

I'm generally in the black camp, I like a nice midnight blue or racing green though. I don't mind a burgundy or brighter blue in some mid size cars and bright colours are only good in small cars.

I hate the way red fades and some shades look really cheap.

Hate silver and cappuccino and brown which seems to be appearing a lot at the moment.

We had dark blue for years. It was great, you could find it easily in car parka from a distance. My mum has a small silver one which is a nightmare to find.

We have a black one now but I'm a bit meh about the colour.

Agree with above re yellow! Love my yellow car and wouldn't go with anything else! very easy to spot in carports and presumably on the road! Love it! The other car we have is blue. I wouldn't never buy a black car if the colour was a choice (ie would only get it if really good second hand car deal). Blue, yellow, maybe red... Not grey as will lose it. Not white as too dirty.

The most jinxed car I ever had was red. Never ever again.

We've had a run of black and silver cars lately and they are so dull/boring. Had a metallic cherry red Yaris back in about 2006 that was a lot colour.

Black cars show the dirt up horrendously. Although that happens to be preferable for me at present - we had a freak hailstorm last year with hailstones the size of golf balls and my car now has dents all over the roof and bonnet. The dirt at least hides them.

I've had 3 blue ones, a red one and a silver one. DH has had orange, brown, white, blue, red, green, black. Black shows the dirt most.

I'd love another red car.

For me, it 's the size that determines the colour - small cars don't suit black, and big cars don't suit yellow unless a Ferrari or a Lambo .

Not sure why black is considered grown up unless you take yourself too seriously Hmm. In fact black is known not to be a safe colour as doesn't show up so well and has 47% more accidents a study in 2013 has shown.

My car is silver and looks the same as every other car in the car park. I was always loosing it! So I bought a Nemo aerial topper!

Silver is smart and doesn't show scuffs or dirt too much and easy colour to sell on...but it's boring. I'd love a yellow car!

Mine is a silver estate...boring as fuck to look at but it doesn't show dirt Grin

Not actually sure if you're being unreasonable but I bloody hate yellow cars...just no need!

My first car was yellow
I BLOODY loved it
Also I believe statistically safest colour - unlike black IIRC

I quite often end up buy a red car, although my current car is blue. I find that most car manufacturers mostly offer 'shades of muddy puddle' plus black, white and red. I'm not keen on black or white, so it usually ends up as red.

I've always wanted a black car. My car wall of shame has included one that was silver blue and therefore camouflaged with all weathers, one ancient one that was an "interesting" shade of brown, two dark blue and two reds that were both a nightmare to keep red cos the sun bleached the colour. The current Mazzymobile is silver and I'm forever losing it in carparks Blush.

We have a black one and a red one. The black one shows more dirt and is harder to spot in car parks, also I would imagine the red is easier for people to see when we are driving as the colour sticks out a bit more x

Mine is silver which is ok for hiding scuffs Grin but bit boring. Husband has a red one which hides the dirt better and is just somehow more fun.

I saw a salmon pink car the other day to which the owner had applied eyelashes on the headlamps. That was imo unacceptable

This is my new baby. Gunmetal grey outside and full black leather interior. I collected it on Tuesday and it drives like a dream. I LOVE the alloys and paid extra to insure them for 3 years ❤

As a family we have two cars: dh drives the very sensible estate, it's very sensible silver. I have a Mini Cooper, it's yellow with black stripes. The colour is fun, like the car. I'd always wanted a yellow car and a Mini, so was ecstatic to get both! I've never had a black car, they look nice but don't seem very practical.
