Seriously I am watching EE, Emmerdale and Coronation Street. The latter I still quite like but they are all pretty boring with the same predictable storylines. Thing is I've been watching them so long it's like a habit! Has anyone stopped watching and not missed them?

I was just about to say I just got dragged back into Emmerdale after hearing about last night and I don't think I would've missed anything by not watching it. Natalie Robb was good and the scene with her and Holly dead in bed made me cry but the rest was rubbish imho. I fast forwarded through most of it and don't feel compelled to watch it again if I'm honest. It has just confirmed there are other better things I can watch. But that's just me it doesn't mean I'm right or anything like that. We all need a bit of trash tv in our lives

Never bothered with any soaps at all, ever, until I met my DH in my late 20's and discovered his obsession with EE. We do watch together and enjoy it to a point, but we also take the piss at some of the ridiculousness. For example, at the moment there are 5 adults and two children sharing a flat, 3 of the adults work; one of them works on a fruit and veg stall, one is a part time cook and the other has just opened a beauty salon but doesn't have any clients. They are all happy to be moving to a bigger house - HOW THE FUCK CAN THEY AFFORD THE LONDON RENT.

Tbf I'm always doing something else - I crochet a lot of toy animals to keep my hands busy - so to me it's not time wasted.

I haven't watched any soaps for about 20 years now and can't say I miss them tbh. EE they just shout all the time and Corrie is boring. I haven't watched Emmerdale since Annie Sugden was still in it.

We used to watch EE in a casual way, wasn't gripped by it but it happened to be on at the time we settled down for the evening and was on in the background. Then around 10 years ago we got to the stage when we couldn't stand it any more. It was the same old story lines being rehashed in ever violent and misery inducing ways. Just when you thought a particularly irritating character had got in a taxi and moved away with their one small bag ...... oh no they're back again.

Can't stand the Mitchell gangsta crap.

What decade is it in the square? During the early 90s there was a rift in time and space and EE is a window into an alternative dimension.

It's a difficult habit to shrug off but do it. I watched them all brookie, east enders, corrie... I was obsessed with them. Now I'm going back 20 years but one night I was settling my son and hurrying up reading to him because I was desperate to watch eastenders. That was a realisation in itself. I was so shocked at myself that I was denying my boy the time he deserved so I could watch a miserable drama. Good luck. Go cold turkey I did

Do it. I only really watched corrie but got fed up when it became so unrealistic and the writers and producers just used it as a forum to push their own agendas (also it has absolutely no research on any story lines)

I used to watch EE, Corrie and kept sort of up with Emmerdale, I gave up all 3 about 6 months ago and I love having my evenings back. When I started watching them, it was 30m a day, now it's 1.5-2 hours a day to keep up. I haven't missed them one bit, if I see them now, it just makes me happy that I don't watch anymore.

I was never an Emmerdale fan but stopped watching EE when they aired the baby swap storyline and stopped watching Corrie during the Tina and Peter storyline. It was bloody ridiculous and they all got on my pip and I don't miss them at all.

Stopped watching them over a decade ago when Little Mo got raped two Christmas's in a row on EE. Miserable and ridiculous. Don't miss them at all.

Not watched Emmerdale today. Not missed it. Watched Corrie but didn't bother watching yesterday's first. Did catch up on EE but it was ok.

I used to watch Family Affairs and whilst waiting for bags at an airport this bloke started to chat , Knew he looked familiar and was trying to work out if I knew him from work or what when I twigged it was David Easter who was in both FA and Brookside. Naturally as a super cool person I never let on I recognised him.

Nowadays as someone else said the Ozzie soaps in the sunshine , my life has enough gritty reality I don't need EEs etc.

They're all unmitigated misery, highly depressing and add zilch to my life.
Binned the lot and feel immeasurably better without the daily dose(s) of rubbish TV.

I stopped watching them all years ago. Can honestly say I don't miss them at all! They were all much of a muchness, following the same story lines. Tedious and boring.

Hi all, well I was watching Emmerdale last night (recorded from the night before) and it was an effort. I decided to delete the next episode once Ross and Charity started planning to steal dogs! And cancelled the series link so that's one down. I still like Corrie but not trying to keep up just watch it when it's on. Also Emmerdale is on when I'm putting dd to bed so I always end up playing catch up. Eastenders may go too. I'm still liking Holby and watched that when it was on last night. If I'd been watching soaps I wouldn't have had time.

Dr Karl and Susan are still in Neighbors?! Lord. It must be weird spending such a massive chunk of your life playing one character. Like Ian Beal in Ender's. You must end up with an almost split personality!

Stopped watching them when I had kids and realised what a waste of time they were. More liberating than you'd think.
