To wonder why people put deodorant on at night?

I have just got back from the gym. Almost everyone who came into the changing room from the shower put deodorant on as they got dressed. It's late(ish) evening! I can't understand why anyone would put deodorant on at night? I shower and leave it off till I shower in the morning!! Please say I'm not alone?

I shower twice a day, and only put deodorant on after the morning shower. I like to get my stank on overnight.

Bumping for this mornings crowd. I have learnt many things about people on mumsnet, but putting deodorant before bed, is a new one for me. I want to know how many more people do or don't do this.

I think the antiperspirant that is used the night before may be driclor? If so I was just talking about this with my Aunt yesterday, she swears by it. I think its around £6 from Boots. Since having my ds my sweating has dramatically increased so I think I might give it a try!

What's this one that stops you sweating?

I never used to get smelly. Hormonal changes have a lot to answer for!

It's never ever crossed my mind to put it on at night after a shower if I'm putting pyjamas on. I might do at a gym when getting dressed, but that would be just habit rather than a conscious decision.

I think I'm lucky, I'm not a sweaty person, I shower and go to bed, I don't put anything on my skin. In the morning I shower again and just use some cuticura talc all over.

DP has never said I smell and I know my best friend would tell me if I did Grin I don't like the feel of the synthetic deodorant, they make my skin sting also Sad

So just medicated talc and some light perfume for me.

iago - most of us are probably using the word deodorant and antiperspirant interchangeably.

I use the mitchum stick, definitely antiperspirant. And i definitely don't use the smelly one.

Orange never heard of it thanks.

iago, I think most people do use antiperspirant but just say deodorant although we are aware of the difference.

'Also if you don't wear deodorant and sweat it can make some of your tops smell no matter how much you wash them.'

One word: napisan.

I really can't believe how many people think that a deodorant will stop sweating! Use an antiperspirant product and then use perfume/perfume spray to fragrance yourself!

It would never occur to me to put deodorant on for bed!

I couldn't sleep with no deodorant! I would feel sweaty and stinky all night. I put on deodorant after every single wash straight away,

There's a clue in the name - deodorant masks smells - odour -whereas an antiperspirant might stop sweating.

The sure one I use says to apply in the evening

I wouldn't want to sweat and then get in my bed like that. Or then go to have sex and be sweaty. I also don't like feeling damp from swearing so use deodorant. Also if you don't wear deodorant and sweat it can make some of your tops smell no matter how much you wash them.

Because I'm perimenopausal and often wake up in the night drenched in sweat - and often don't have the opportunity for a shower until after I've got DS2 to school (by which point, I've often sweated a whole lot more - and make that after dinner, in school holidays because I have little chance of hopping in the shower with one child to look after and exponentially less opportunity with two of them to to prevent from killing each other - the most I can hope for is a quick wipe with a wet cloth with them around). If I'm then expecting a 9:30am delivery (back to school days, again), it's nice to know I can get as far as 10am and not stink so badly that the poor delivery driver faints.

If I don't put deodorant on at night I sweat loads and stink when I get up. In fact I'm one of the unfortunate people who stinks after a couple of hours. I do shower again and reapply in the morning but if I didn't at night ... well ... My poor husband! My poor sheets!

I sometimes go out after the gym.
One of my dc's goes to the gym at night before work.
Both need deodorant.
Then a night like tonight and it's still in the 20's I sweat buckets.
Not everyone has a shower in the morning.
